No Mr Hull we are not Annette

Look at your record

You stated we are not capable of teaching if we are white

The board in one paid did the following

Paid sick days to Roberts totaling $78,000. For years we asked to transfer our own sick days to district employees that are on extended leave. The board said NO. Yet the board from hell pays Roberts

Paid a $2000 retirement party but moved ticket prices for staff by $2 that is disrespectful.

Paid $18,000 to a teacher for downloading nude pictures. Everyone knows the district firewall does not work that way.

Paid $124,000 to a business manger with no background check.

We work in overcrowded classrooms for the lowest pay in the area. We have no curriculum to teach and are harassed with classroom visits and distractions all day long.

Get real the entire board needs to go including Annette and Ray they should be the first.

Yes Clayton was there taking pictures for Boys two Men.

He used this district for years to promote himself. Yes he did have the Mayor in toe and yes the students got a political pitch. Hull was their as well.

No class was correct.

Clayton was NOT at the Top 10% banquet. He might have been at the political fundraiser that was on the next banquet room over but he nor the mayor ever cane into the top 10% room. Stop making things up.

4:39-Thank you for setting the record straight. I suspected some twisting of the truth, but wasn't there so could not dispute.

Beyond Belief said...

I can’t believe anybody here is concerned about whether or not Clayton and the mayor attempted to gain a few votes or if a few band kids got into a music festival or if they feel insulted by a board members comments. The district is debating how to save a few dollars by placing kids who have demonstrated themselves to be a danger to those around them back into our school buildings.

These are individuals who would be in prison if they were a few years older. These are violent individuals, gang bangers, drug users, sexual abusers, etc. Any other community would be up in arms if their children were being placed in this type of danger. Our community only seems interested in determining which board member has been the worst.

Somebody should go on the record as taking responsibility for this very poor and dangerous decision. Who will be responsible (career and financially) when a child or staff member is assaulted, injured or killed by one of these dangerous individuals? They want you to believe that they can keep these children separated from the general population but placing them just feet away from your child, they will never be able to ensure their safety. The administration has already stated that these alternative school children will be allowed to play sports and participate in other school activities. How can they possibly keep our children safe?

Student safety said...

Teachers have been assaulted all year long in the hallways and gang membership is up at all of our schools. I has gotten so difficult to recognize colors police have been in doing special training .

Now the new Superintendents first order of business is to put dangerous criminals back into our schools.

Mr Popp this is not the school district you came from. The BOE should have hired someone with more experience.

I have been told they hired a Superintendent in only three meetings. That was their most important job.
Let us not forget the over $200,000 in payouts recently.

The BOE is in charge of the Superintendent therefore they are in charge of safety first for students and staff.

We do need a new board and hopefully they can find a new administration.

I read this blog for entertainment as many in the district do the same.

For what is it worth

Yes, Mayor Weisner and the Clayton disagreement is stupid. He did stop over to see the students, and yes they had a event going in the other room. So there is truth in both. He did tell the kids to vote and talked about making their voices known on issue facing them.

That said , who cares:

The part I find interesting about the alternative program is Popps comments on the district that he stated the district will all of a sudden become a nurturing place.

Does he understand, most likely not, since nobody has seen him. how overcrowded and how challenged the teachers in our district are. Class management is near to impossible. Before he runs off making poor informed comments he needs to visit and learn about our district. So far the hope everyone was filled with is fading and talk of another Roberts is filling the district.

I will agree the board made a poor choice they needed a Superintendent who worked with a similar population.

Brilliance Academy ... Inc. was approved as a SES provider today the CEO was arrested for giving free trips and meals. EA was pushing kids into this program with Denean Adams she was given trips to San Diego and Orlando. Jerome Roberts also had a free trip to Las Vegas and had lunch with this group. I will be calling investigators tomorrow.

I have a lot I'd like to chime in on the alternative school.
If these students still feel "There’s like no respect there.”(at the high school) Or that they may see someone they do not like and get in a fight, they are NOT getting the "mental health counseling, behavioral therapy" they need, Ms. Gillespie.

These students are a portion of what our teachers at EA have had to deal with on a daily basis while past admin and the Board turned their backs on the pleas of the teachers. For the teacher from Joliet to suggest our teachers do not know how to handle the students is offensive. Daily, many of our teachers have to 'neglect' other students to help students similar to these Urban League students. They take these worries home to their families, just the same, without the benefit of being acknowledged as someone teaching troubled students.

For a long while EA has not been a "typical suburban sweetheart high school" and for Warfield to make that comments makes me believe she is desperate for her job or has her head in the sand. These students need to get 'alternative Education' that is working and quickly. They are near to being mainstreamed into LIFE. There is no alternative Urban League in life school. It is called prison. In days gone by, you either fit in with the rules of the main stream schools or they had youth homes that would house and educate you. A parent that has 3 children at the UL as the one lady claimed, needs to find the root of these behavior problems. It is definitely not the school district.

Much time and money is being spent to work with these children who have too many problems outside the school. Until those things are fixed, the "alternative" education is not going to get better or go away. If students have not set their sights on being more than an UL student, then the UL should be ashamed of the mentality they allow to continue in these young people.

Ray Hull already told the public White female teachers can't handle kids of color at a open board meeting. Ms Warfield is expressing those sediments as well. I sat in disbelief listening to this.,That was a major insult for every teacher that works so hard with these students.
The board should have asked him to resign instead they make him president.

With the Urban League being shut down it will have little to no impact in our schools. The 150 kids that get sent to Alternative School is a drop in the bucket. If the teachers had been getting support the school would have been on top,of this.

I also realize nothing will change over night until the board addresses overcrowding and decreases class size at the HS, and MS

Class sizes are over 30. Maybe it's time to realize you can't educate every child.

sympathetic but fed up said...

April 29, 2014 at 8:55 AM- I agree wholeheartedly about the support lacking to our teachers and class size issues. We spend too much money trying to save a few (150) while the students and families that abide by rules and children that are eager to learn are stifled. We should take the Urban League dollars and put it towards programs to offer students who come to school, on time, and want to learn. We need to stop making excuses and coddling parents and their children. Same goes with Urban League. The days of having their back scratched is over. Districts all around EA use other programs. The school district is not in the business to be a social service agency.

Hull should be banned from the East Aurora Board for his feeling on teachers teaching kids of color.

The district is on a witch hunt several teachers and aides have been given bad reviews for not being what the districts deems poor communication skills. it seems our new Superintendent is using new buzz words to get rid of staff.

While we agree some needed to go years ago, others are on the list because of advocating for children. Popp has not visited schools to learn about us or the struggles we face. It is questionable that he returns students with criminal backgrounds to building without seeing the overcrowded classrooms . He appears to be listening to some on the board or administration and not doing his own research. Removing Spanish speakers is the latest.

He also showed a disrespect by raising prices $2 for Together We Shine. It is a time to celebrate retirements and milestones of friends and colleagues.
Many would have boycotted but out of respect did not for people being honored. When Joan G. was asked if he was aware, her statement was YES he signed off.

The increased ticket prices is not the question it is respect. Please remember this is on heals of a $2000 retirement party.

It is about respect, clearly, he feels he is better than us . A teachers in Indian Prairie would not last a month, maybe Mr Popp should not either
