Continuing the discussion...

The topic of the previous thread (our district's image) must have struck a nerve with a lot of folks--there have been more than 200 comments in a relatively short period of time. So I (the co-administrator, and originator of the past several topics) decided to refresh the discussion. Oh, and don't forget to VOTE next Tuesday!

215 comments:

  1. There was a large inflatable rat in front of East High this afternoon.

    Anybody know what that's all about?

  2. REPOSTED FOR MORE EXPOSURE:
    This blog is a travesty and a complete embarrassment to District 131. It simply proves that nothing in our district gets done because everyone is too busy gossiping and pointing fingers. I have worked in the district for over 10 years and have never been satisfied with the central office, the school board or the adults in this community and this blog, full of anonymous he said/she said immaturity speaks volumes as to what the district's priorities are. If I close my classroom door, life is good. The students of the east side of Aurora and my wonderful colleagues are the reasons I stay in this otherwise godforsaken district.

    This site should be taken down immediately. No wonder our students fight over such petty things - the adults in their community are setting the example for them!

    No wonder they don't care about grammar and punctuation! The adults in their community, who claim to care, and some of whom serve on the Board, can't take the time to write correctly either!

    Either make this site what it should be - a place for sincere and intelligent dialogue about the goings-on of D131 - or shut it down. Instead of blogging here, go to sites where you can learn about how to change education for the better. Look into a man named Geoffrey Canada. How I would love to work for someone like that!

    The problem with education isn't just a 131 problem. It's a national problem. Stop whining and complaining and embarrassing the community and find ways to fix the problems! Cut all the administrative jobs that are for show and get down to business! Get rid of the central office building and house administrators in actual school buildings! Maybe then the students and teachers could actually put names to the faces that make all of their decisions for them! Stop sending administrators to Spain for new teachers when we have thousands of highly qualified teachers HERE!

    Unfortunately, my comment is #208 or so, and most people won't scroll down far enough to read it, but if you do, thanks for your time and please vote carefully in the election. The teachers and students of 131 need less blogging and more maturity!

  3. I still want to know about Cundari who is running for school board. Anyone know what she has done for the community? What does she do for a living? Where has she volunteered at?

    ReplyDelete
  4. 9:14 p.m., you make a lot of good suggestions. And I agree that there's a lot of whining and complaining, gossiping and pointing fingers in this district.

    But some in this district have a history of corruption and secrecy. This blog is just one way we have of uncovering and discussing some of those issues.

    Good, bad, and ugly--you'll find it all on the World Wide Web!

    ReplyDelete
  5. I love how the only defense to this blog is that.

    How about NO. It's human nature to gossip and harp on the negative and to put it all in one place seems a bit excessive. Yes, yes two or three positive things have been discussed, but lets say there have been 5,000 comments in the life of this blog; 4,950 of them have been negative. So is this district 95% negative? That is the "image" that this blog percipitates.

    Yeah, maybe I spelled a word wrong, but try to look deeper morons.

    ReplyDelete
  6. So, 9:30, you have the floor--and it's a fresh thread.

    Here's a chance to "accentuate the positive".

    Go ahead; I for one enjoy hearing about the many good things happening in our district!

  7. Ask Anita Lewis if the amount of money charged for that dinner is $7000.00. She was there. Also ask the board president. Since the superintendant charged it, ask him.
    Always notice that when someone hits a sour point on something that there will be something negative written about someone or something to draw attention from what was written, and the sad thing is that what was posted has almost always been proven to be true.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Really, "proven" true. Really?

    ReplyDelete
  9. Better yet have Rayanne FOIA it r u going to Peyton's Monday the 16th maybe u can ask Wells & Roberts in person and get Clayton to take your picture. By then Hull will be celebrating his going away party and Sifuetes & Cervantes will be holding Roberts hand as the new lackey's

    ReplyDelete
  10. Better yet, ask them how the $7,000 expenditure benefited the students of East Aurora.

    ReplyDelete
  11. That wasn't a large inflatable rat, Jerome Roberts made his first trip to the high school today.

    ReplyDelete
  12. 11:26 must not know the history of our district!

    Jerome Roberts was principal of East High for several years in the 1990's. I remember him as one of the better principals we had there, and he was especially a refreshing contrast to two of his immediate predecessors, Postlewaite and Jandris.

    I don't blame Dr. Roberts for the corruption in the Central Office. Blame the legacy of the Serial Bully and the School Board from Hell, for disrespecting this community and making choices against our students' best interests.

    But give credit where credit is due to those who try to act with integrity; I believe there are some administrators who are doing just that.

    ReplyDelete
  13. One thing I know about Mr. Hull he will continue serving this community whether he is on the school board or not. The other quitters will become invisible like they were before they tried for 4years to get rid of Roberts. Let the Gong show begin; the jokes on u

  16. I have seen a few Questions about candidates in the comments. So I thought I'd share some info I received.
    A campaign flyer came in the mail. It was addressed to the "household," with my surname.

    This flyer had pictures and bio's of 3 candidates, Turza, Cundari, Cervantes, with an additional insert for a 4th, Fultz.

    I had read about all the candidates in another publication, with exception to Cundari. For those who may not have received this, and wanted a bit of bio on her I will list her bullet points.

  18. The reason this District does not get good teachers or good candidates is because of this blog. It attacks people personally and for the one thing that is true there are 10 lies. When a new teacher comes to the district web site and runs across this they say to themselves why would we want to work here. Same thing for the candidates. The current and old board members have all been attacked including their children. Rayanne is a bitter old woman who promotes this. Anyone who believes they had a $7000 party is crazy but that sums up this blog.

    ReplyDelete
  19. 10:16 your full of crap and yourself. 131 has been a total mess for at least a decade, way before this two bit blog came into existance. Yeah, there are anon attacks, but so what. I bet most are true and should be exposed. This district is still a mess with the current board. The president is on a power trip. The other board members are not competent to oversee such a mess. The state needs to step in and combined into district with 204, 129 and batavia. This is the only way it will get better.

  21. Dear Reposted,
    I have wondered why we have a "central office" when other districts admin. is centralized within their school's bldgs. The supt. is the one that should "get down to business!" If he’s NOT-then the school bd. should be getting down to business with him. This is where the ball has been dropped for, far too many, yrs.
    If you feel there’s too much "whining and complaining and embarrassing the community," it may be the community is tired of being embarrassed by those they elected. Those new people they chose hoping they’d take charge and make change. The only major changes taking place are salaries for administrators and increase in admin positions. All others changes seem to be “processes that take time.”
    You stated "Look into a man named Geoffrey Canada. How I would love to work for someone like that!" Why work for someone like him-BE someone like him. Take charge and ban with your wonderful colleagues and close your doors and make life good- get the job done as if you were Mr. Canada. Don’t wait for EA admin to support your goals.

    For years people have complained about sending EA recruiters to Spain and asked the Board to be a watch dog on this trip. Your wonderful administrative colleagues have bypassed approval and brought it through the back door and made the trip happen, again. Same with the many trips the supt. takes under the guise of "professional development."

    There are “mature” adults out in the community trying to make change but they are a minority that is easily silenced. Don't take all these blog comments as whining,. Much of it is frustration. If there was anyway you could hear the many comments brought to the board meetings, and the concerns brought by parents to those with authority in the district, you would see a very disgruntled community who has had the "open door" policy shut in their face

    ReplyDelete
  22. If you are embarassed by those elected, there is always an answer that most of you ignore.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Next week we'll have a chance to try again to get 'em right.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Cunderia, Hull & Tursa had the best comments in the Beacon

    ReplyDelete
  25. My vote is going to be for Hull, Turza, Cundari and Sifuentes. They seem to have the best interest of the students.

    Not too sure about Turza. I really dont think she has the guts to really get say no to anyone. I see her more of a follower but she is the one out of the rest who seem to have the most experience.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I don't see that Hull can say no either.

    ReplyDelete
  27. I just read the Beacon News and it has pictures and the response of each of the candidates. My vote is for Cundari, who has the interest of our chidren, but at the same time our pockets. Turza, although I do see her as a follower. Sefuentes, who has worked with the district. Mr Ray Hull, who does address the the issues of the school. I like their responses, and I did get a flyer with my name in the mail today, which had Turza, Cundari, and Cervantes. I know more about Cundari and feel very good about her.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Turza does not have experience. She just came on the board and if anyone would listen to her when at the meetings, they can tell she is a puppet on a string. Hull has no buisness sticking his nose in and telling people what is said in closed meetings.

    ReplyDelete
  29. I too had a flyer delivered today with my name with Turza, Cundari, and Cervantes. I remember Cundari when she ran for County Board. I feel very confident about her. I'm glad its the same person. I thought with everyone jumping to conclusions this lady did not want anyone to know her. I know Ms Cundari when she ran for the board. Well now we need to get out and vote on Tuesday. Wow what a relief.

    ReplyDelete
  30. You are right Ray Hull has no business discussing what is said behind closed doors, that is terrible. I have to say one thing we need to vote on Tuesday. Read the Beacon News only three candidates have good responds. Cundari, Hull, and Turza had the best responses. We need to give people an opportunity. You also have to remember Hull and Turza were appointed so this is the first time they are running.

    ReplyDelete
  31. The Beacon no longer gets delivered on Sat. so how could you see that?

    ReplyDelete
  32. We need to vote, and stop judging people. This must be very hard to run for these positions and be scrutinize by everyone. I know I couldn't do it. I mean everyone starts rumors instead of getting facts. I just read the Beacon News my vote is for Turza, Cundari, Hull, I'm not sure about the others?

    ReplyDelete
  33. How could somebody read the newspaper on a saturday? Hmmmmmmmm - there is this new thing called the internet. Newspapers "post" their articles and you can read them on you "computer."

    ReplyDelete
  34. You are correct the Beacon News does not get delivered on Saturday, but if you take the time and go on line you will find the article on the Candidates. This is in Sunday's paper. We need to take that extra step people.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Didnt Hull run in the 90's? I dont think its the first time.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Who knows if Mr. Hull ran in the 90s?

    ReplyDelete
  37. We need to concentrate on what is happening now, not what happened in the 90s. We need to make an educated decision for Tuesday's Election. I love technology!! I just made up my mind who has my vote, thanks to the Beacon News!! Cundari, Turza, and Hull, I mean just look at their responds. I don't know about the rest. I'm not too sure Cervantes being so young would make sound decisions???

    ReplyDelete
  38. Mr. Hull ran in 1999 and was elected. Ms Cundari bio tells me she is from Chicago. Little Village is a Chicago neighborhood.

    ReplyDelete
  39. Hull has been on the board before. Even though Tuza is running for the postion for the first time, she has been on the board for awhile and I really do not think that she knows what she is doing.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Ther is a differnce between what is stated in the paper and going to meetings(or reading the minutes of the meetings)to see and hear for ones own self what is going on. This is why I did not vote for Hull and Turza. Hull did do what was stated about what was said in closed meeting.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I read the minutes from time to time and I think the current Board seems to be addressing issues.
    They have the gifted program back. Teachers are receiving training. They have reduced class size the tutor program is working in my building. Hiring teachers is not option we have no empty classrooms in my buildings but the tutor relieves teachers and has pull out sessions. The Board President formed a new committee in Community Relations and they seem to have great ideas on how they want that committee run. I even see were they are addressing the building repairs a the tax payers money. Hull asks very good questions and Turza asked great questions to. The big loss to the Board is Weaver by far she asks the best questions. lets hope Cudaria can take Weavers spot. They are all working together very well. Lewis is doing a good job as well her comments are on target. By far Johnson is the best President the past Boards ever had. If she is so pro administration by what I am reading it does not appear that way.
    Whether a administration is good or bad depends on how good the Board is and other than Weaver who is be missed they are all doing a great job. I feel good about were are district is heading.
    My vote Hull, Cundaria, & Turza the rest are a tossup.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I have to be honest when I looked up those bullet points of Cundari, they were all in Chicago and I wondered if her heart was in the EA community. I have read the Beacon comments and believe Cundari & Sufuentes will be a good choice for new additions to the Board-regardless of where her references are. Turza sounds good, but her actions have shown otherwise. Hull seems the best choice of those remaining.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have read the comments from the Montgomery Patch and also last night from the Beacon news. My votes are going for Hull, Sifuentes and Cundari.

    I like Turza as a person, but she has no backbone.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cervantes is to young and his idea's although good will not happen in the real world. He also has ties to close to Clayton.
    Hull has a background in building and the building need alot of attention.
    Tursa may not be the best but out of the group four need to be elected. So I will settle.
    Sifuentes is the biggest disappointment again he talks about his kids and what he did with the preschool just adds into his comments.
    Hill does not understand the problem is not the teachers he needs to be brought up to speed fast.
    Fultz is the worst her she runs down others when she had major problems with her own children.
    Cunderia had some good ideas but she needs the understand the tug of war is administration maybe that is what she was saying
    My vote 1-Hull 2-Cunderia 3-Tursa 4-Hill

    ReplyDelete
  45. I don't see Sifuentes as a disappointment. Of course he talks about his kids in his bio. Those are things voters like to hear- about family.
    You won't find "Cunderia or Tursa" on the ballot.

    ReplyDelete
  46. What a cop out "too young." I think that is such an ignorant statement. Because age is sooooo important. The older you are does not mean you are smarter or have more experience. It just means you have been alive longer, no real benefit there. The problem with education is you are trying to educate students of the 21st century with an educational system created in the 19th century.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Nacho‘s Beacon comment……”and get into the schools and talk to the students. By students and teachers knowing their board members, we’ll be better able to address their concerns personally and bring education to a higher level.” Be careful Nacho! One board member tried that and lies were told, charges were filed. Even with teachers support, the board member’s reputation was tarnished. The teachers feared expressing any further concerns.

    Ignacio is not too young, just naïve. Like Nacho, any good hearted, well meaning, trusting, mature adult can be naive. Is that a bad thing? No. Unless trying to work with folks of an opposing nature.

    You are correct about us teaching our students in the 21st century. It isn't about putting a smart board in every room and an ebook in each students hands. The present admin/bd seems to equate spending $$ with increasing AYP.

    ReplyDelete
  48. The candidates need to read about what a board members responsibilities are because most don't have a clue. It isn't a members job to go and talk to the teachers and parents about issue of the board and no one board member can make a change. It is the superintendents job to bring to the board the concerns of the employees of the district.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I'm sure by now everyone has read the Beacon News, might have received flyers on at least 3 of the Candidates. I did like Turza, Cundari, and Hull. I'm not sure about Cervantes. I do know that with age does come experience, and some form of knowledge about situations, and our world. I do believe Cervantes has good intentions, he will be easily led due to lack of experience. His comments are those of a perfect world, we just don't have that. We need to fight hard and sometimes swim against the current regardless of the consequences. Life isn't about waiting for the storm to pass, it's about learning to dance in the rain.

    ReplyDelete
  50. I am so upset about Mary Fultz running for office, she stated she had good communication with the students and teachers in the Beacon News. I would like for someone to tell me what happened with her communication skills between her and her children???? I am African American and she is a disgrace to the African American Community!! I would never vote for someone like that, and put her on a school board? My vote is with Hull, Cundari, and Turza. The rest is up in the air. Good Luck to everyone!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Mary Fultz has a criminal record and so do her kids, they are gang bangers. My vote is for Hull, Turza and Sifuentes. They are the only ones with school board experience.

    ReplyDelete
  52. I have to wonder, how much of Nacho Cervantes' campaign for School Board is being run and/or financed by Clayton Muhammad?

    I really doubt that young Mr. Cervantes (or his parents) designed, bought, and placed all those yard signs!

    I'll be voting for Cundari, Hull, Sifuentes, and Turza. I may not agree with everything they stand for, but they are all independent and beholden to no one except their constituents.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Sifuentes with school board experience since when, or where? The fact that he has his kids, and the school has done favors for him, does not give him school board experience!!! It does tell me that if he gets in more favors for his kids!! I'd rather have people that are not connected, because when they run for this office they truly want to make a difference. They are not doing it because they have kids in that school. Sometimes we need to be careful what we wish for!! His first interest will be the well being of his children, that is human nature....please!

    ReplyDelete
  54. I think that Mary Fultz' campaign may also be sponsored by Clayton.

    That makes me wary of supporting her or Cervantes, because of the Farrakhan connection.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Weaver will be missed she always asked great questions the only good that will come out of this election is Wells will not be on the Board come Wednesday. If Johnson and Roberts split up continues then the board will do great things other than that there is no hope.

    ReplyDelete
  56. I live in the Pigeon Hill area and received a brochure for Sifuentes. It reads that he is a Trustee for the Kane County Regional Board of Education. It also shows that he is a board member for the Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board for the City of Aurora and and a volunteer for Big Brother/Big Sister. That is enough for me.

    ReplyDelete
  57. You are correct Clayton Muhammad is behind Ignacio Cervantes Campaign. It must be nice. Sifuentes the same these are people that if they get in the Board won't have an opportunity to make the difference they are making in the school district. The board will be too busy trying to control Nacho Cervantes, and Sifuentes, they will be busy pleasing Jerome Roberts, and Clayton Muhammad. That is such a shame that we have to deal with this. We need to change this on Tuesday!!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Oh of course he would be on those boards, he also works for the Kane County Clerk, could he possibly have any connections????? I mean "Political."

    ReplyDelete
  59. Well if he did have connections wouldn't I see quite a bit of signs of his? I really don't see many. It sounds like Cervantes is the one with connections. He has Clayton on his side.

    ReplyDelete
  60. So that means he also has connections for big brother big sister? Stupid.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Sifuentes was elected to the Regional Board of Education in 2009. Many of you probably voted for him since he did receive 4,050 votes for the City of Aurora and 1,136 for Aurora Township. This information is on the county website.

    http://kanecountyelections.org/ElectionResults/electionresults.asp

    ReplyDelete
  62. Juan Sifuentes is NOT supported or backed by Clayton Muhammad! Mr. Sifuentes is very much his own person. He will make an excellent addition to our School Board, along with Ms. Cundari.

    I also will be voting for Mr. Hull and Mrs. Turza.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Too bad everyone voting or thinking of voting has never been to a meeting to see how they are. Hitler talked good also.
    The gifted program is not back as far as I know. Rayanne spoke about it at the last meeting and it sounds like it is not back. Too bad everyone was not there for Weaver when that board was brow beating her and took away anything that she could do when she was president. NOw everyone is coming out of the woodwork for her. She was always for the teachers, but the teachers believed others.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Cundari is not from Aurora, she is from Bensenville. I really dont think her heart is here.

  67. Please we must refrain from insulting one another. We need to express our ideas, and feelings without swearing, because there is no need for that. We are adults we need to act as such. I did like the Article in Sunday's Beacon News. I must say my vote is for Cundari, Hull, Sifuentes and Turza. I know that we are going to have a good board. I cannot put someone on the board so young and with so many ties to Clayton Muhammad. I really feel very uncomfortable about that scenario.

    ReplyDelete
  68. 7:28 p.m., this is from a letter sent to Rayanne Carlson last week, in response to her questions about our district's gifted program (I copied it from the agenda for tomorrow night's School Board meeting):

    "The following is a response to your question at the March 21, 2011 Board of Education meeting regarding Gifted Education.

    The gifted committee has been meeting on a monthly basis throughout the 2010-2011 school year and working with two consultants to help guide decisions for the implementation of a gifted program. To date, more than 42 district teachers have been trained in the 30 hour GES (Gifted Education Seminar). The GES will be provided again this summer for additional teachers and to ensure we have teachers represented in all 16 schools. The committee has developed a definition that will be used to identify District 131 students for services. This will be important as we narrow down the two top models selected by the committee. In addition to the selection of a model and process used for identifying students, a Gifted Facilitator will be hired for the fall of 2011 to work with teachers that have been trained in the GES and implement services for students. Once these steps have been completed, the district will begin implementation of its gifted program"

  69. To 8:07, do you even know if he has a connection with Lisa?

    Is there an application process for the pre-school program?

    From my understanding only about 90 percent of the students that go into the pre-school program come out of low-income families. The other 10 percent comes out of normal families.

    What are the requirements for the pre-school program and I want the facts, where can I find this information online? I dont want you to tell me, I want to look into it myself.

    Some how I really dont believe you.

  70. I did call Ms Cundari up today and asked her several questions. She answered all my questions and was very pleasant. Oh by the way Ms Cundari is not from Bensenville she is from Chicago. She has resident of Auora, for many years now. She told me she ran for office last year, because she saw the need for change, and she was tired of paying the high taxes. She is now running for school board because we have to make the admin accountable with our money, and our students need to receive a good education. She told me she reared 2 children on her own, and she knows the importance of parent involvement. She also mentioned how she worked with the boards, admin and parents because we all play a major role in the education of our children. She is also worried that if we keep getting taxed, where are we suppose to go. She told me there needs to be checks and balances. I really enjoyed our conversation. Oh, by the way the number listed on this website is her cell number. She also gave me her home number so if anyone has any doubts or questions call Ms Cundari and please educate yourselves. You will see that she is very good for the board. Oh her 2 children her daughter is in Law School and her son is in his second year of college. I enjoyed my conversation with Ms Cundari and I told her she has my vote along with Hull, Turza. I still have to make up my mind on another candidate, not sure who?

    ReplyDelete
  71. That is great news that someone actually took the time to call Ms Cundari, instead of guessing and gossiping! I will say I am going to be very honest I wanted to do that too, but did not know how Ms Cundari would react. I will give Ms Cundari a call, after all we need to be informed. I don't like to guess, or have doubts. Thank you whomever you are for that information. Good job and great way of thinking.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Nobody called her. She posted that information to clear everything up.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Rayanne looks like the rat that was at East Aurora the other day.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Oh yeah, you really remembered all of that information from the phone call. What a bunch of lies. I am pretty sure it was her that posted that information and she cant even put her name on it.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I knew those signs looked familiar just could not think of it at the time. Mary Fultz signs look the same too. I will not vote for Cervanes just because he was a student board member he doesn't know what time of day it is. His response in the Beacon News talk to Teachers?? Nacho you just don't go around talking to teachers, and they are not just going to start talking to you. You want to meet with them or be in their room, you need permission!!! You just don't walk in and make yourself at home. Oh gosh and people say that age and experience doesn't matter? Pleeeees think before making a statement like that.

    ReplyDelete
  76. The majority was already in the Beacon News why don't you read what Ms Cundari responded. I am intelligent and what is so hard about remembering 2 children in college. Gee is your memory that short that you would not remember a conversation with someone especially when that person is not contradicting what she already responded in the paper. Why don't you call and find out for yourself. I'm sure you will remember something???

    ReplyDelete
  77. Age and experience does not matter.

  78. Since my comment removed. Dee Weaver is a mess who cannot take care of her children yet you all seem to love her. Thank god she is not running for re-election.

    ReplyDelete
  79. Please there we go again with the guessing games and making statements about people we don't even know. My gosh why can we act like educated adults, or maybe some of us on this site are not educated, and that is why there is so much garbage going on.

    ReplyDelete
  80. Age doesnt matter but experience does.

    ReplyDelete
  81. Nope, neither do.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Well you have your opinion and I have mine. In my book experience does matter.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Please age and experience does matter which ever way you want to look at it. Lets say you are going for a job interview and they require certain years of experience. Please don't say something that anyone with some common sense knows that age and experience matters at least in the world that I live in!! I'm sure anyone can tell you the same. I did not make the same decisions in my 20s as I do now in my 50s quite a difference! You become wiser, and think very different.

    (Aurora) – East Aurora School District 131 is hosting screenings for pre-school during the months of August and early September. This screening is for all children, ages 3 and 4, whose parents are residents of East Aurora School District 131.
    Children will be screened for vision, hearing, and school readiness. No appointment is necessary. Parents may bring their children to any of the screening sites.
    Children with mild delays may be eligible for a preschool class. This preschool program is funded by a grant from the state of Illinois. The grant requires that we offer preschool classes to those children who show the greatest needs first.

    Apperantly the pre-school program is open to any resident of District 131. Sifuentes apparently took his child to the screening and was okayed.

    Why should he not be able to attend when the press release is open to any child in district 131?

    ReplyDelete
  85. Yup, you are all right. That is why you are stuck in Aurora doing nothing with your life.

  86. People just do your research on the candidates. In the end go with whom you think will make the best decisions.

    ReplyDelete
  87. I agree experience certainly does matter, and that comes with time.

    ReplyDelete
  88. To 9:16, thats why you are still in Aurora yourself. LOL

    ReplyDelete
  89. Like I stated earlier, I am voting for those that have experience and the back bone. Hull, Sifuentes, I am still not sure of the others. I will make up my mind when voting.

    ReplyDelete
  90. Wow look at your comparisons. Why do you set your standards so low. Set your standards high and make comparisons with people that have excelled in life and you will see that with experience does come knowledge. You must be wasting your time, doing nothing because you are on this blog too.

    ReplyDelete
  91. Sifuentes backbone what has he done. Hull has been on the Board and will speak up

    ReplyDelete
  92. Yeah, mulit-millionares related to internet. The internet is EVERYTHING. If you can't use it or create with it, you will be left behind. Just like all of you. Again. You need to stop thinking 19th century and join us here in the 21st. Age and experience are BS you are all just to old and stuck in your ignorant ways.

    ReplyDelete
  93. THe old generation always likes to think they are "wise." The truth is, you are just outdated.

    ps - I don't live in aurora.

    ReplyDelete
  94. I agree go with the candidate that you think will do the best for the students, and the community. Good luck to all who are running, and I would like to thank all of them for taking the time to run, it's not easy when you have such critical people. Remember people it's not like they are getting a salary.

    ReplyDelete
  95. You have people that are older and very tech savy. Please making a statement that they are just old and stuck, that goes to show how your mentality works. You must be someone that is clueless of the meaning of what you just said. I hope you stay young forever, but I doubt that very much.

    ReplyDelete
  96. Hes probably Cervantes.

    ReplyDelete
  97. To say experience is nothing is as stupid as saying experience is everyting.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Hull went and talked to an employee due to what was said in Closed session and he should have known better. I could understand "Nacho" doing something like this, but not Hull.
    Hull is also the one that the old board used to get to talk before the board about Weaver and Carlson.

    ReplyDelete
  99. You are probably correct it would have to be Cervanes, due to the age comments. I know Hull, Cundari, Turza, Sifuentes and the rest would not take the time to make such ignorant and immature comments like this. This is one of the reason just one Cervantes does not have my vote. My vote is Sifuentes, Hull, Cundari and Turza.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Hull hired Radocvich that is why I can not vote for him

    ReplyDelete
  101. This proves my point Sufuentes had no business taking a spot from one of the needy children. His wife uses this program as a time out since she is a stay at home mom. Many of our working families can not afford preschool. He shows lack of morals

    Press release from 2005 "August 7, 2005

    We have to allow everyone to take the assesment and then go from there.

  102. 12:22, his wife works full time. What is your problem telling lies. Why would you type things that are not true? Remember charma. What goes around, comes around. I am sure this is Rayanne Carlson saying that stuff. Bitter old lady.

    As you can see in the press release the, pre-school program is open to any resident of district 131. He pays taxes, why shouldnt he? You talk about morals but you continue typing lies about people you dont even know, where are your morals?

    ReplyDelete
  103. How about this. You STOP associating names with anonymous posts.

    That is exactly why this blog is such a piece of crap. Oh that post is Rayanne, that must be Clayton, I'm sure those "immature" comments are Nacho.

    You are off base, and so are others who feel superior enough to judge me and others. Your comments are unfairly filled with untruths and without provacation.

  107. This is from last Friday's news:

    "Warning that destruction could be on America’s doorstep because it oppresses “God’s chosen people,” Minister Louis Farrakhan, the controversial Nation of Islam leader, defended Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi today, calling the U.S. action in Libya hypocrisy.

    Speaking from the pulpit of Chicago’s Mosque Maryam, the Nation of Islam’s international headquarters, purchased 40 years ago with a $3 million loan from Gadhafi, Farrakhan blamed demons for altering President Barack Obama’s moral conscience and driving the assault on Gadhafi, who he calls a brother.Farrakhan cautioned Obama that he was being used as a pawn to oppress his own people in Africa. He insisted several times that Jews controlled the media and pressured Obama to take so-called humanitarian action in Libya, but not in other places such as the Gaza Strip."

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The "Honorable" Minister Louis Farrakhan is the man that our Community Relations Director emulates and idolizes. Our district's administration supports this, or at least chooses to look the other way.
    ReplyDelete
  108. So does that make Nacho Cervantes "Farrakhan's Disciple"'s disciple?
    ReplyDelete
  109. Emulate - To strive to equal, imitate
    Idolize - to worship as a god
    Please submit specific examples of how Clayton has done this.
    ReplyDelete
  110. Yes, if you consider Clayton to be the warped surrogate child of Farrakhan, then that would make Nacho, Farrakhans grandchild.
    ReplyDelete
  111. I heard the current members are supporting Cervantes, Hull, Turza, & Sifuentes no shock
    ReplyDelete
  112. The only ones supporting Cervantes, Sifuentes are Clayton Muhhamad, especially Cervantes. I heard that the current board memebers are supporting Hull, Turza, Cundari. I don't know if they are supporting Sifuentes?
    ReplyDelete
  113. 10:08 a.m., it is my understanding that Clayton Kinard changed his last name to Muhammad to show his allegiance to the Nation of Islam, under the leadership of Louis Farrakhan.
    Maybe "idolize" is too strong a term, but "emulate" certainly fits.
    ReplyDelete
  114. 12:21, where do you get the idea that "Farrakhan's Disciple" is supporting Sifuentes? Sifuentes has no ties to Boys II Men or the central office.
    ReplyDelete
  115. The word "idolize" can also mean "to worship as a hero".
    When Clayton Kinard, Clayton X, or Clayton Muhammad (whichever name he was using at the time) brought his boys' drill team "My Brother's Keeper" to Dieterich School in the 1990's, part of the lyrics encouraged kids to be heroes "like Martin Luther King and Farrakhan".
    I did not appreciate the reference to Farrakhan as someone for our kids to emulate, and I spoke to the principal (Mrs. Gwen Miller) about my concerns. She agreed.
    That incident happened many years ago, and our Community Relations director COULD have distanced himself from Farrakhan since then (especially in the past few months, with Farrakhan's friend Gadhafi brutalizing the Libyan people). But our CRD, who usually speaks freely and fluently, has said absolutely nothing about this.
    Making choices for arrogance.
    ReplyDelete
  116. The only ones that are being supported from Clayton are Cervantes and Fultz. Cervantes is very much involved in the B2M group.
    ReplyDelete
  117. I know for a fact, just to clarify that the current board members are supporting Hull, Turza, and Cundari, all independant and not associated with the current Admin, except thier constituants, and the well being of our childre.
    ReplyDelete
  118. Well, if that is so, that will tell you the direction our board will go if Cervantes, and Fultz get in. My vote is for Hull, Cundari, and Sifuentes. I have yet to see Turza make a desicion where she doesn't sound like she is not sure!
    ReplyDelete
  119. Zero examples have been give. Farrakhan is not the "leader of Islam." I'm sure there are many leaders of Islam. Some of which would probably totally disagree with Farrakhan.
    Lets take for example all of you "Christians" slinging mud at other people. Not loving thy neighbor. And lets take the "leader of the Christians" as Pat Robertson. I'm a Christian, I think Pat Robertson is WAY OFF on most of his opinions.
    At what point was Clayton confronted? I quote some moron below:
    "That incident happened many years ago, and our Community Relations director COULD have distanced himself from Farrakhan"
    How do you know he has not distanced himself? Have you had a recent conversation with him about it? Or maybe in the past few months you have seen the "My Brother's Keeper" kids and they are still saying the name Farrakhan?
    None of my questions will be answered of course because you don't have the answers, you are just continually making up crap that is outdated and unfounded.
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    5:40 p.m., whoever said that Farrakhan is the leader of Islam? No one on this blog! Farrakhan is the leader of the "NATION OF ISLAM". Learn the difference...

    ...Moron.

    ReplyDelete
  121. Tell me the difference 8:05. Please instead of calling me a moron.

    What is the difference.

    Let's continue with what my post was REALLY ABOUT.

    I will repost it for you. Please address each and every question and if you don't shut up forever.

    1. How do you know he has not distanced himself?

    2. Have you had a recent conversation with him about it?

    3. Or maybe in the past few months you have seen the "My Brother's Keeper" kids and they are still saying the name Farrakhan?

    Please answer every question.

    ReplyDelete
  122. Since my comment was deleted I can only assume that the person 8:05 is the "Blog Administrator"

    ReplyDelete
  123. It would be a serious insult to a mainstream Muslim to confuse Islam with Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. A Muslim co-worker tells me that Farrakhan is denounced by all the Muslim leaders she knows as being in direct opposition to the teachings of the Quran.

    As far as whether our Community Relations Director has distanced himself from Farrakhan, how do YOU know he has? It is public record that Clayton Kinard changed his last name to Muhammad to honor Farrakhan, after the Million Man March. This fact was mentioned in a newspaper article, so it is verifiable as true.

    ReplyDelete
  124. 8:18 p.m. says:

    Since my comment was deleted I can only assume that the person 8:05 is the "Blog Administrator"

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Or maybe it was deleted because of gratuitous profanity.
    :)
    ReplyDelete
  125. It was deleted because of a "bad" word. But it happened so quickly that the only person to be arguing with me would be the blog administraor.
    :)
    See how that works. Can you make that judgment or are you too busy ignoring my questions.
    I'll post them again.
    1. How do you know he has not distanced himself?
    2. Have you had a recent conversation with him about it?
    3. Or maybe in the past few months you have seen the "My Brother's Keeper" kids and they are still saying the name Farrakhan?
    By the way 8:26 - Answering my question with a question is just stupid. Just because I don't know he has does not mean he has not. If that is the level of your reasoning skills I feel very sorry for you.
    ReplyDelete
  126. HATRED is dripping from this blog. What a waste of time. You people are sad and pathetic. Grow up, GET OVER IT, and try to make something better.
    ReplyDelete
  127. 8:11 p.m. said:
    "Tell me the difference 8:05. Please instead of calling me a moron.
    "It would be a serious insult to a mainstream Muslim to confuse Islam with Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. A Muslim co-worker tells me that Farrakhan is denounced by all the Muslim leaders she knows as being in direct opposition to the teachings of the Quran"
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    So there's an answer to one of your questions. And as far as whether or not our CRD has distanced himself from Farrakhan...last I heard Clayton's last name was still "Muhammad".

    ReplyDelete
  128. 8:53 p.m., have you read some of Farrakhan's recent statements about Jews?

    Now THAT'S hatred!

    ReplyDelete
  129. I have ZERO connection to Farrakhan. I don't give a shit about what Farrakhan has to say about the Jews, black people, christians, white people, mexicans, South Americans, Canadians, or puppies.

    Who cares? Not me.

    This blog is worse. You spew lies and hatred about people working with kids. You assume everybody has BAD intentions. You live in that world, I don't have to.

    Now somebody will call me naive and say I don't live in the real world blah blah blah. If "East Aurora" is the real world, let's blow it up.

    And I wish our Community Relations Director didn't have any connections to Farrakhan.

    ReplyDelete
  133. Well your wish didn't come true. Get over it.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I mean you people want to keep crying and whining about clayton and Farrakhan and all this bs. Just move on. You don't get to control somebody else's life. If you don't want your kids associated with him, don't put them in BIIM. Don't let them go to the "Achievers Awards." What the hell is your problem.

    ReplyDelete
  135. 8:53pm,You are so correct you listen to Farrakhan talk about the Jewish people or just open his mouth, and you can feel the hatred in that man. I don't even want to see him on T.V.. I truly cannot understand how he can possibly have any followers. This man is not a role model and the people following him, are they too full of hatred towards others? I get chills down my spine when I listen to this man. I pray that no parent should even consider allowing their children listening to this man.

    ReplyDelete
  136. 9:26pm You are very rude, I don't know if you have any children, but people are just voicing their concerns, and rightfully so. Our children are our most precious possessions. We work very hard and try to do our best so that when we drop them off at school they can be influenced by someone connected to such a disgusted man. He is suppose to be a role model to the youth?

    ReplyDelete
  137. I'm rude. Shut up. I have never heard such hate (except for Farrakhan) about nothing.

    He does not work at a school.

    ReplyDelete
  138. I would like to take this moment to wish all the East Aurora District 131 Candidates the very best in tomorrow's election. And while I know everyone worked hard to get on the ballot, and leading to tomorrow, I also know there are 4 positions that will be filled by Wednesday morning. I know that all 7 Candidates are not going to be elected, but I commend everyone running. I hope I have the opportunity to work with each and everyone for the best interest of our children, and community. GOOD LUCK AND GOD BLESS!!!!

    ReplyDelete

    To be a school board member, a candidate has to be 18 years old, an american citizen and a registered voter.

    If Nacho did not meet all of these requirements today, he is ineligible to sit as a board member.

  157. How dare you call Cervantes, Sifuentes, and Cundari losers? When we did not see any african american support any latino, it's obvious they turned it into a racial race. Then you have IDIOTS LIKE ALEX AROYO SUPPORTING MARY FULTZ!!!! Thanks Mr. Arroyo for dividing the Latino Vote once again, you are notorious for this!!! We hope at one point or another you can learn a lesson!!! It's called Stick Together!!!!!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  158. I knew this was going to happen. Wow now here is the deal. In a district where the majority are latinos, you have a predominantly african american board there is something wrong with this picture. Than you add the latinos working for the african american that just adds more division. You people have to learn that the African American will vote for their own, and it's obvious we have to do the same. Geeeees does anyone out there have any common sense??????

    ReplyDelete
  159. Thanks Alex Arroyo you managed to get someone with a criminal record on the board. This is a person who could not even control or communicate with her own children, now she will sit on a board that represents our children and community!!!!!!! You really need to retire........cause it looks like you have no vision!!

    ReplyDelete
  160. sorry - but who is alex arroyo?

    ReplyDelete
  161. Looks like the dictator Johnson will have more control than ever with her boyfriend Roberts. Fultz & Hill will not have a clue. Add that in to Hull & Turza who never had a clue. What a Board of one.

    There are no losers. Cervantes, Sifuentes, and Cundari were just the last place winners. Do you feel better now? Has your self esteem been restored?

    ReplyDelete
  163. Thanks should go to all for stepping up and throwing their hats in the ring. I thought all of EA board contenders had a respectable amount of voters show their support. What is disgraceful is the number of voters who actually turnout to vote.

    I may be blind to facts but I do not believe this is a racial race, it was a matter of people who were registered voters taking the time to vote. I am Caucasian but I voted for all people of color.

    Only one got in, but I think this is going to be a very interesting 4 years for the eastside.

    ReplyDelete
  164. I wonder if the white taxpayers know they elected 3 black board members Clayton must be in his glory but Jerome is not

    ReplyDelete
  165. If you have the proof that MARY FULTZ has a criminal record go to the States Attorney because I don't think people with a record can run for office.

    ReplyDelete
  166. I'll say this for Mary Fultz: she has spent a LOT of time trying to make our community better. She has a reputation as someone who is not afraid to speak out when something's wrong, even if it's gang or drug activity in her own neighborhood. She has attended several D131 School Board meetings.

    And if she had some trouble with the law years ago, so what? Many people make poor choices or fall under the influence of unsavory friends when they're young. If she's paid her debt to society, that's good enough for me to give her a chance.

    ReplyDelete
  167. None of the people on the board have experience in fact they don't even follow the rules for board members that make it up as they go.

    ReplyDelete
  168. The only people happy today are Johnson & Roberts they now have Weaver off their backs and no one will ask questions. Hull will be off picking new band uniforms for his daughter. Hill is a big question mark who hates all the teachers and calls them lazy. Turza will take a snooze and Fultz the worst parent of the year will be out talking to kids. Won't she make a good mentor. Gonzalez will still have a hard time speaking English and Lewis will just go along agreeing with Johnson. A thing will never get questioned in this district unless Roberts is fighting with Johnson. Johnson could make the District better but her and Roberts are to close.

    ReplyDelete
  169. 7:03 I am a white taxpayer and at the time I was voting I didn't even think about what race the candidates were, because I believe in MLK's dream about judging not by the color of skin, but by the content of character. I couldn't care less if the board was 100% black, or 100% hispanic, or 100% asian, or whatever. All I cared about were the candidates themselves. 2 of the people I voted for won, and 2 didn't.

    ReplyDelete
  170. I know Fultz and she has only been a resident of Aurora for a few months. isnt there some kind of rule that you have to live in a district for longer than that?

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  174. It is odd that she has a P.O Box for her address from the Montgomery Patch article it would make one wonder how long she has lived in the district and will she have a street address when she is put on the districts website.

  175. Everyone does realize that the 60507 zip code is on the west side by North Aurora so how can she use that address and be on the East Side Board doesn't she have to have a East Side address?

    ReplyDelete
  176. I believe that the USPS uses 60507 for all Aurora post office boxes; at least this was the case when I had a P.O. box in the 1990s.

  177. Here's an excerpt from the minutes of the March 21 School Board meeting:

    "Mrs. Mary Fultz of P.O. Box 5833 addressed the board. Mrs. Fultz distributed a copy of a picture of a marquee sign at Rollins School. The sign state in English 'spring is nature's way of saying let's party'. Mrs. Fultz shared that the district must think of the mentality of the kids that live in the Rollins school neighborhood when posting such things; according to Mrs. Fultz, parents took offense to the sign"

    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    What could possibly be offensive about that sign? The saying is by American comedian Robin Williams, and has been quoted by hundreds of high-profile organizations including the following recent examples:
    --Naches Valley (Washington) School District Newsletter, March 24, 2009
    --Taylorville (Illinois) CUSD #3 school district website, 2010, listed under "Inspiring Quotes"
    --ASCD (formerly the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development; a membership organization that develops programs, products, and services essential to the way educators learn, teach, and lead); the most recent online issue of the ASCD Journal includes this saying as one of their "Smart Quotes".
    I am VERY disappointed in Mrs. Fultz for choosing to criticize this marquee when there are so many legitimate concerns in our district! Had she bothered to do a bit of research, she would have found out (as I did) that hundreds of respectable school districts have displayed and/or posted this exact quote.
  178. We can aleady tell that Ms. Mary Fultz is going to bring nothing but problems. You are correct many schools have this posted, please what is so offensive?? Ms. Fultz needs to concentrate on real issues, that need to be addressed. Ouggggggh!!
  179. Mary will probably not make it to be seated on the board. Seems like she might of lied about a couple of things that you needed to be a candidate to run for the board.
    ReplyDelete
  180. Mary has only lived in Home Town on Serendipity for 6 months and she is not a registered voter if I can find this out by goggling so should the district be able to or maybe they knew.
    ReplyDelete
  181. where do you google to find out if someone is a registered voter?
    ReplyDelete
  182. Never mind - I found a site http://www.elections.il.gov/votinginformation/registrationlookup.aspx
    Mary Fultz with 60505 zip code doesn't come up. Interesting.
    ReplyDelete
  183. Sorry - the entire web site to look for registered voters is: http://www.elections.il.gov/votinginformation/registrationlookup.aspx
    (it was cut off on my last post)
  185. Abut what she talked about to the board on that sign, she stated parents brought this forth to her attention and was disturbed about. She was just doing what she was asked to do. She was not trying to make trouble. To bad others do not get involved like this. Those of us who were at the meeting understood she meant no wrong. But that is the hitch here, being at the meeting and really understanding what was going on.
  186. Home Town's zip is 60504
    ReplyDelete
  187. Mary Fultz with a zip code of 60504 doesn't come up either
    ReplyDelete
  188. What now? Should we go get a FOIA at the Aurora Election office and see her petitions?
    ReplyDelete
  189. You don't have to FOIA for registered voters you can go down to the election office and get them that what is what people can do to get names of register voters.
    ReplyDelete
  190. There is nothing wrong with anyone FOIA anything if they want to find out the truth about things that is the only way some things come out. The only ones that don't like FOIA is the people that lie to you.
  191. Isn't or shouldn't there be a process of verifying when they apply to be on the ballot?
    ReplyDelete
  192. The current Board needs to consult their attorneys and get her removed and the next inline would be seated. This all has to be done before the vote is made official by the board of election.
    ReplyDelete
  193. I don't recall seeing any law or school code that states the person with the next most votes automatically will get elected.
    The only law states that if there is an opening between elections, the school board will vote an interim member until the next election.
    There is a process that must be followed. You can't just create laws that aren't there.
  194. Mary Fultz is in several facebook pictures with Juanita Wells. Her campaign was also run by Alex Arroyo neighbor of Juanita's only these two class-less acts could cause so much trouble to help someone how can't even vote. This women has never paid taxes and lived her life on public assistance like Juanita until the East Aurora school system got her a job. The only good that came out of this is both will not be on the Board. We will see if the Board does anything.
  195. IF, emphasize IF all the allegations about Ms. Fultz were true and she could not be seated, I would think the election should be redone. Her name on the ballot misconstrued where 800+ votes were placed. NO ONE can predict how the placement of those votes may have changed the outcome of the total election. If we can just say let us allow “next in line” why not say lets split them between Cundari & Sifuentes.
    A vacancy was not created on the Board, so the Board cannot “pick” someone. She has NOT been sworn in. An election or re-election should take place.
  196. "An election or re-election should take place"
    ...paid for by WHOM?
    ReplyDelete
  197. You will find that the allegations are true the district knows about it and why they are taking their time to try in fix it is anyones guess. I'm sure they are going to have to do some checking about what the laws states about these things. You would of thought that Alex would of made sure she was a registered voter since he is so involved in the Dem party and would not want to be made a fool of. Also, it seems Mary is involved in a lot of projects and Wells knows her she would of known where Mary lived. Everyone proably thought that it would not be noticed like many illegal things that go on in this district.
    I did vote for her and now I am sorry for it she knew she needed to be a registered voter and live in the district a year to run and she chose to lie to the voters.
