I looked for a D131 budget update. What I found on the website page for the Superintendents office were goals that have been re-dated for 2009-2010, but it if you look at the paragraph above you will see it was all written last school year and which is evidenced by his quarterly goals summary at the bottom of the page which shows his last summary as being the 2nd quarter of 2008-2009.
District 204 has twice as many schools and twice as many students as D131.
Yet D204 Superintendent is informing it‘s community:
“When you are forced to trim $21.4 million from your budget in a single year, it becomes impossible to not have an impact on our students.
We began looking for cuts as far away from the classroom as possible. This includes a plan to reduce 14.4 percent of our central office staff and 6 percent of our building level administrators. We are also proposing a pay freeze for all administrators next year and cutting all administrators' budgets.”

From D131 website: “prior to the passage of the referendum in 2008, the Board of Education and administration made nearly $7 million in budget cuts in order to balance the budget and improve the district’s overall financial landscape. In the midst of a struggling economy, East Aurora Schools made no budget reductions for the current school year, making it the only district in the county to do so. Rayanne, nobody cares about your posts that actually have something to do with education. These people on hear just want to bicker, gossip and spread lies about TEACHERS. That is why this blog is not effective anymore and should just shut down.
ReplyDeleteYes, Rayanne some do care what you post it is just too bad more community members don't stand up and say something. There is only a few that lie about teachers and a few are on the board that don't respect them but remember that can change it will take awhile since they still have three years on the board but they can be voted off.
ReplyDeleteNo blog is effective it is just an avenue to express views of how people see things. The problem is that people post how they feel but they don't stand up to those that are doing wrong.
Nobody cares.
ReplyDeleteThe sad thing is that no one does care and they should. How is it that one of the poorest district be doing so good. How is it that we can pay the Superintendent, administrators, central office and maintenance people so well and ignore teachers? Most of those people mentioned don't even send their children to this district why is that if they think we are doing so good.
ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day it is the community that lets this happen and they deserve what they get in the end of all of this. We will suffer like all the other districts in the end and the students will be the ones that get the short end of the stick.
There are lots of parents who care about the education their children are receiving. That's why thousands of them are paying for parochial schools and lying about residency to get their kids to the West Side or Indian Prairie. West just kicked hundreds of East Siders out of their schools. That's the main reason they reduced their teaching force this year.
ReplyDeleteThese people don't just leave, they give up after years of banging their heads against the wall trying to work with the East Side Administration.
Thanks the problem the superintendent, board and administration are the ones that don't care they only care their pet projects and forget everyone else.
ReplyDeletePeople DO care how their money is spent! With so many of us losing our jobs and/or watching every penny, it's especially upsetting to see money wasted on unnecessary things like expensive restaurant tabs, hotel bills, and pit musicians.
ReplyDeleteNowadays everyone wants maximum bang for their buck. This includes our tax dollars--and we will continue to keep an eye on how administrators choose to spend OUR hard-earned money!
Nobody Cares
ReplyDelete2:18 must be filthy rich.
ReplyDeleteOr their name is "Nobody".
That's why, even though I love my job as a teacher at the high school, our children will NEVER attend this district. It's a mess and the clean-up needs to start at the top - with the superintendent.
ReplyDeleteYes ,someone cares the parents in D204 who sent their kids to school with the proper supplies, go to teacher/parent conferences, their kids extra activities, do homework with them, and overall prepare them for life. Here is the biggest difference they come to school and already speak English, know numbers and Alphabet
ReplyDeleteDistrict 131's teachers and administrators work much harder everyday than a teacher or admin in d204. They have also had well funded schools for years.
To compare one District to the other shows the idiotic behavior that takes place on this Blog.
What is high acheivment?
ReplyDeleteHear ye, hear ye, now speak ye, speak ye. Stand before that board at the meetings and speak. Do it at every meeting if you have to. Do not put every board member in the catagory of not caring, there is at least one that does. Talk to the reporter. Become a pain to them where usually the sun does not get to unless you are a nudist. Now will come all the excuses on this blog. Watch out though, the one who will more than likely be the new board president will more than likely stifle us or try to. Just remember we are not Edith Bunker. Glad to see that Lewis is finally doing something about policies. More than likely the one who got her to do this is the one behind the resolution no one talked about as was put on the agenda, just went to lawyer and did the resolution is the reason why certain policies have been done. This one wants things in place for when she is president and I am not referring to Wells.
ReplyDeleteThat's what she said....nobody cares, lets give Roberts a contract for 5 years and perks.
ReplyDeleteI think that they mean that we don't have a lot of parents that care if they get a good education and that even thought the TEACHERS try they can't do it alone. As far as comparing yes it does matter because you see the difference when parents care and when other parents don't. We do have parents that care in this district but we are getting more and more that don't.
ReplyDeleteBut with that being said it doesn't mean that the Superintendent, administration or board should give up. There have been many districts across America that have had the same problems and found ways to improve the districts not so with this one.
10:56 is nobody.
ReplyDeleteThanks for caring, 10:56!
ReplyDeleteI read the article in The Beacon about the laying of of teachers which they have to do by a certain time or they can't do it later in the year. What I find amazing is that the administration and superintendent give the facts to the board ours doesn't do that or are open and honest. In fact they don't like it if a board member asks how things are going.
ReplyDeleteThis was also in the article I hope our district is preparing for it.
A pair of Aurora legislators -- state Sen. Chris Lauzen, whose son attends West Aurora High School, and state Rep. Linda Chapa LaVia, who chairs the House committee tasked with school funding -- said schools should not expect a last-minute windfall like the one last year that saved nearly 70 West jobs -- including Mandrelle's.
The only place that the state is cutting is in education and social services. And at the same time the state is laying off thousands of teachers, they are implementing programs to put thousands of unemployed construction workers back to work. And of course pushing for a massive tax increase.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget that Illinois is 49th out of 50 states in education funding. How much of our money do they really need to provide the second lowest funding levels in the nation.
Why don't these districts find a way to save money so they don't have to lay off teachers. Yes, our district is different than others but do our administrators really need IPhones? They had Blackberries those should be fine and do the same thing. There are other cut backs they could do to help save teachers. Do what the outside world does and have people start paying for more of their medical.
ReplyDeleteAs long as we the people let our politicians keep sending the way they do this will happen. Lets see them give up some of their perks. People are losing their jobs or already have where do you think the money is going to come from?
You are wrong about ranking 49th here is the current ranking and you can find it at: www.nea.org

You can't just look at total revenues spent as each state has a different population. You need to look at spending per pupil and then you will see where our state is in actual spending.
ReplyDeleteAlso don't look at total spending per pupil including federal and local sources, Look specifically at the contributions made by the state and you will see how little of our state tax dollars are being spent on education.
If you have ever worked with a iphone it allows you to not be tied to a computer in office. So maybe, that is why Dr Aird can do the work of 5 people as compared to her counter-part in d129.

Are you retarded or what? That's not the state spending, That's fed, state and local combined. In Illinois the vast majority of education spending comes from local property taxes, not from the state. The "State" is 49th in education spending.
ReplyDeleteIn Illinois 23% of education funding comes from State sources, the remainder comes from local sources. This is a statement based on total spending statewide. Areas like Aurora see a higher percentage from the state, where most districts see far less.
ReplyDeleteIn short, the vast majority of education spending comes from local sources.
Further, only about 12% of the overall state budget in Illinois goes toward education. The rest goes toward health care, defense, welfare, construction, police, etc.
You don't hear about cuts in these other services. The fact is that the govenor and our state reps. are using cuts in education spending to blackmail us into a massive tax increase.
The total state budget is approximately 67.5 billion dollars. The govenor has called for a 50% increase in state taxes. Thay's an additional 33.75 billion dollars for the state.
The state only spent 8.4 billion dollars total on education last year. We need to start becoming informed on what our representatives are really trying to do.
They want a massive tax increase and the most they are offering is to return education spending back to where it was before they started blackmailing us.
Where is the extra 33.75 Billion dollars going to be spent? Ladies and gentlemen, this is your money they are trying to take away from you. Don't you give a damn about it.
We don't need a tax increase, we need an election to replace the bastards running our state. We need to remove Quinn and Madigan at least.
ReplyDeleteBefore I vote or ask my representative to vote for any tax increase I want to make sure the money is going to where it is suppose to be going and that is the education of our children. Not big pensions.
ReplyDeleteYou may ask where the money is going, but it is unlikely you will get the facts.
ReplyDeleteWe can't even get the facts from the elected reps closest to us-our school board- and how 131 spends our taxes, how do you think you can be assured the state reps are giving you a true account of state spending.
They have to have the 33.5 Billion first to spend it.

ReplyDeleteAmazing what you can learn from things like a site meter and Google Earth.
ReplyDeleteREALLY!!!!!
Yes, the nobody's that don't care is the Superintendent, administration and some board members they are the nobody's.
ReplyDeleteHow many years has EHS been on academic warning?
ReplyDeleteThe school has been failing for decades but the state has officially had the school on the watch list since they began doing such about 8 years ago.
ReplyDeleteI would say that the district started failing in the 80's.
ReplyDeleteSo anything interesting happen at the meeting. I saw they were going to be spreading gossip and lies. Oh wait, that's this blog.
ReplyDeleteYes, people will gossip that is our nature but the lies are from some of the board members and their is a blond that really likes to do it. she believes the lies the superintendent and administration tells her and you don't have to go to a board meeting to know this.
ReplyDeleteI find this interesting in the new board policies about the president.
ReplyDeleteIf the President vacates the office, is absent from any meeting, or refuses to perform his or her duties, the Vice-President will assume those duties. If both the President and Vice-President are absent, a President Pro Tempore will be appointed from the Board membership.
Vice-President
So if the President get sick or if there is a death in the family this board is going to remove a President from their position. This is about the stupidest thing I've heard it sounds like a witch hunt who would want that job. It is interesting that this board has keep the President from do their duty now so let's hope if they passed this they don't turn around and change it when someone new gets in. You are a very sad board.
Meanwhile, D129 is laying off more than 100 employees, mostly teachers.
ReplyDeleteWhat has this board done for the students since they have come on the board. Let's see when the govener doesn't get his 1% tax hike that this district will not be in such good shape when they don't get the 7 million dollars the state has already said they where not getting. The PreSchool is done by grants and it was stated that the State was not giving money for that so how are you not going to layoff the Preschool teachers if you don't get the money.
ReplyDeleteIt is only West most districts are laying off and I believe it will hit us too soon.
Not to start a riot here, but isn't D131 laying off preschool teachers due to this grant situation?
ReplyDeleteYes, everyone should understand that we are going to end up in the same situation as the rest of the districts. It does not matter what that one person on the board keeps saying, take my word for it, that fiscally we are fine. Anyone that wants to take that person's work for it, I have a structure that I will sell you in New York that is in Brooklyn.
When are they going to update the picture of the School Board on the district website? Mr. Hull has been on the board for awhile now, and he is not pictured. Rayanne is no longer on the School Board, but anyone who visits the website and isn't familiar with us would think she is. And worst of all, Lisa Morales is pictured and listed along with the members! Not that she shouldn't be included but it's very misleading not to indicate her role as administrative secretary.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't anyone have 10 minutes to snap a photo at a School Board meeting and put the correct list of names on our website? We can & should do better than this!
Oh, so now we are back to website complaints. All right, lets hear all the old crap over and over again.
ReplyDeleteIf you look on the Districts Homepage under in the news where they tell about the last board meeting the picture is a new on with Mr. Hull but the one where on the left of the page says Board of Education it has the old picture.
ReplyDeleteIn fact I believe by now they where suppose to have the Superintendents contract and who to FOIA on the website. I believe they hired someone to be a full time webmaster so these things should be on there,. These things are suppose to be there by law but we know that no one follows these laws and the state doesn't enforce them.
7:34, so you think it's perfectly o.k. for our district website to have outdated pictures and information?
ReplyDeleteOur website is the first contact point many have with our district. If people get incorrect or obsolete information from our website, it shows our whole district in a bad light.
It's also disrespectful of the taxpayers to misinform them about the board that THEY elected. We deserve better!
You know what else is disrespectful. A blog that tells lies, half-truths, and insults people. To even bring up the word "disrespectful" is a joke unless you are talking about the blog administrator or most of the posters here.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments Clayton but instead of bashing the people here for pointing out the districts shortcomings, you should be doing something to correct the problems. You can start by telling Robert Ford to do his job and post on the district website the things that teachers and administrators have requested be posted. He and the other tech guys set the system up so that the tech guys are the only ones allowed to access the site and then don't do their job to keep it up to date. I personally know people who have made a dozen or more requests for the most basic information to be added to the website and little if any info is actually posted. Further, requests to have direct access to do the job themselves have been denied. Either allow the administrators and teachers the access necessary to maintain the pages or make the tech guys do their job.
ReplyDeleteIt just goes to show how the district hires administration to do jobs and they don't. It has been a long time and if they have someone who is a full time person running the website they should of noticed this but that is not important to them.
ReplyDeleteWe have a board that for the last couple of months have done nothing to better the education of our students but they did have time to redo the terms of the officers of the board and I bet the only office that changes is the presidents office. What value does that have for our students? This is a shell game and will anything be different when the change comes I don't believe so. The Superintendent is playing a game with these board members and they are so in awe of him they don't realize that nothing is going to change. The parents of these children that are in the district should stand up because it is their children that will lose in this. Shame on all the board members that are letting this happen.
While other districts are getting down to business on what the impact of the coming days might bring to the students of their districts and are planning for the future ours is worried about the terms of officers of the board. We can keep our heads in the sand but the coming days will tell how some planned for the future of the students in their districts and how ours didn't.
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteThis board and administration also tells half truths. I think everyone should of known that the Superintendent had a seeing problem. What where they trying to hide many people have had jobs that they had seeing problems and could do a good job. Then there was the thing about the superintendent that he wanted to stay in Joliet because his stepson wanted to stay in his school to graduate and I think most people could relate to that but come to find out his wife had a daycare center and that was probably the reason they wanted to stay so who really is telling the lies?
ReplyDeleteThere is some truth on this blog and some venting but I think there are some that don't want the public to know what is really going on.
That must have been Annette she has a smart mouth.
ReplyDeleteThis district has been walking a fine line on all the rules of the State and the State lets this happen shame on them but one day that will end. The district has got away with it so long they think they can't be touched and maybe that is true but if this state wants change and they are the ones that make the laws then they should follow them. I think the taxpayers by now should be tried of it and we can change it by voting everyone out that continues to let these things happen. It will take a step at a time but yes we can make change.
ReplyDeleteI do not think it is Clayton making those comments, but the blond on the school board that is doing it.
ReplyDeleteThe only ones is awe of the superintendent is Johnson, Gonzales and Truza. Am not sure about Lewis, but she has been doing what Johnson wants her to do. The other three do not fall under the awe.
ReplyDeleteRumor has it the Lewis wants to remain vice president, Johnson wants to remain secretary. Gonzales wants to be president, but the question here is why? She has stated many times that being on this board takes up to much of her time. What does she expect if she becomes president? Also, I would like to be able to understand someone when they talk. One person on the board, or maybe two, were on a witch hunt about the current president to get rid of her. Since Gonzales has other things that she is doing, this will give the vice president and secretary the right to preside over the meetings when she is not there, and bet this will happen alot.
March 21, 2010 10:17 PM
ReplyDeleteI think you are right. Also, when she isn't pleased she likes to use very negative adjectives. You should have heard the ones she used when speaking about all her new found friends just a few short months ago. The words did not begin with "F" and they were not complimentary!
7:51 talks about "a blog that tells lies, half-truths, and insults people".
ReplyDeleteA website that includes outdated and/or misleading information also tells lies, half-truths, and insults people. For example, it is an insult to Mr. Hull for him not to be listed and included in the current online picture of the School Board. And it is a lie to list Lisa Morales under "School Board", when she was not elected to anything.
I guess 7:51 wants to pick and choose which lies, insults, and half-truths are disrespectful. Doesn't work that way, 7:51!
No, I want people to acknowledge their own lies. The misleading info about the website was already brought up (I don't feel the need to restate everything all of the time) so I was just brining up that this blog has it's own share of lies. Get it, do you understand? Do you need further explination? GOOD, moron.
ReplyDeleteFor that matter, Wikipedia also does not always tell the whole truth.
"Wikipedia does not always tell the whole truth"--yes, so anyone who wants to correct what's posted can do so.
ReplyDeleteAnd if something's untrue on this blog, you can state the facts and enlighten us. Or you can hide behind a general statement and refuse to be specific about exactly what is a lie, because you can't handle being corrected with actual FACTS.
Moron.
NO, because on this blog, people demand proof of the correction, but never demand proof of the initial post. I have corrected lies, and yeah, prove it, and it is virtuially impossible to PROVE something on a stupid blog. But lets not ask for proof of "simmons administrators leaving EVERY DAY" - "Roberts having an affair" - "Stella Gonzalez wants to be board president" - WHO KNOWS IF ANY OF THAT IS TRUE - yet on this blog, nobody asked for PROOF of any of it.
ReplyDeleteIs that enough examples? MORON (don't use my word, you are too stupid to come up with your own insults.)
You must have a very selective memory, because I know of many situations where something has been stated on this blog and immediately corrected. For one example: someone said that Ms. Lewis had helped to pick the new band director. Someone immediately quoted a Beacon-News article that proved she had said she didn't think he was qualified. Another person mentioned Dr. Roberts' wife's home daycare business--someone enlightened us that it was an article from 10 years ago.
ReplyDeleteThe saying goes that "the squeaky wheel gets the grease". This blog (and others like it) provide an opportunity for people to exchange opinions and information. Some of the information is untrue, but that's just an invitation to jump in and correct it with your own proof.
And do you have a copyright on the word "moron"?
This blog is the same old news. Look you have been discussing the Band for 5 years. You claim everyone should remember. You went and had 3 people elected to the Board that had been pro Band and nothing happened. To keep beating a dead horse is stupid. Get something new to complain about or just let it go.
ReplyDeleteMany teachers rights seem to be getting stepped on yet nothing in the Blog. So to me this Blog only has about 5 members to complain. Either things are great and I know they are not or nobody will step forward.
Rayanne either send the staff a link to the blog. Email's are on the District website and Roberts will not be able to stop you or do yourself a favor and shut it down.
"When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time"--Maya Angelou
ReplyDelete~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The reason some of us keep bringing up the band isn't so much about the band any more, it's about reminding the community who was responsible. When administrators deprived a well-loved, community-supported teacher of his high school teaching position they were showing us who they were: they were showing us that they were (and are) BULLIES. Now it's up to us to make sure that these BULLIES can never again push around our teachers for their own selfish interests.
Some of the BULLIES are gone from the district, but you can bet that you'll be hearing about this until every last one of them has left!
All you do by this make the District look like they are doing a great job. If you have nothing to complain about new then they must. The direction of this Blog needs to change. Teachers need to understand this site is available. If I go on record I will end up like one of the Secretaries in the Central Office.
ReplyDeleteStella will be the next president and that will be the only change to the officers and that's a fact jack.
ReplyDeleteSo go ahead, 12:11--bring up a new topic; take this blog in a different direction.
ReplyDeleteYou have the floor. We're waiting to see what constructive criticism you have to offer.
Here's a new direction.
ReplyDeleteThe administration is attempting to terminate Bob Green. The are taking him to the next board meeting and asking that the board vote to terminate him.
The incident that led them to this decision to terminate was very minor and with the lawsuits and other legal arguements he has against the district, it definately looks, at the least, like retaliation and at the most a violation of the Illlinois Whistleblower Law.
There is no doubt that the district administrators were gunning for him. Joan Glotbach upon hearing of the incident was at Cowherd within twenty minutes with the suspension paperwork already filled out on Green. She did not even ask Green for his side of the story before having him escorted out of the building. It was a real railroad job.
If the district does terminate him, I fear it is going to lead to yet another lawsuit that costs the district hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Of course, this administration doesn't care, it's not their money.
http://www.sd129.org/pr/news.asp?id=district&newsid=1383
ReplyDeleteMore West side good works informing and including community in school finances.
What happened to one of the Secretaries in the Central Office?
Teachers know the link to this site, in fact I have heard it has been blocked from being accessed thru D131.
Why do you say in one sentence-send link to staff then say it would be doing herself a favor to shut it down ? I don't get it?
You say they are taking him to the board meeting to ask about this? I don't think so they can take the argument but they can't take him and if he did a whistle blower and if what he said was true they will probably be the ones in trouble.
ReplyDeleteThis blog should be blocked from anyone on school time accessing it. If they have time to do that then they don't need there job. Let's watch on spring break if Central Office works eight hours or takes off early it is just to bad that we can't see if they got paid for working 40 and only worked 32 hours.
ReplyDeleteThe district is going to the board to push for the termination of Bob Green. Bob Green can show up to defend himself if he wishes. No, the district administrators will not be physically dragging him before the board.
ReplyDeleteAll this is because Bob Green has the cajones to go above the administrators heads to the ROE and State Board, as well as the Illinois Labor Relations Board, the EEOC and the courts. He has been winning battle after battle and the administrators don't like it.
This is why he will have a strong case against the district for breaking the Illinois Whistleblower Law if he is terminated. They are pissed because he is reporting all the illegal crap the administration has been doing.
The district should fire Bob Green because he sits on his half moons and does not teach. They should not be firing him over this crap.
ReplyDeleteOnce again the administration in this district can't do anything the right way. That's all they had to do is videotape him sitting around all the time and take it to the board but no instead they do this crap and leave the district open to yet another lawsuit. How much incompetence can we afford???
Maybe some of the administration should video tape how Central Office takes off early on the districts down time like the on coming up spring break. Or is it ok since the work in the central office it is still stealing from the taxpayers. What is wrong from one in the district is wrong for all they shouldn't be able to pick and chose.
ReplyDeleteGood for Bob Green for reporting what should not be going on. To bad more do not get the cajones to do this instead of just complaining about it if this is true. How did the district break the Whistleblower law? Can people Whistleblow on the school board? There is a few of us who would like to do this especially about the bl. bomber and the one who should be mentoring that board.
ReplyDeleteWhy isn't the EHS choir position listed on the teachinkane.com website? The English teaching position at East High (start date: August 2010) is posted; Ms. Nadel will be retiring from the choir director's position this spring so her job should be listed also.
ReplyDeleteUnless the bully administrators are planning to try to sneak in an unqualified "insider", so they can keep certain people at the high school happy. Heaven forbid those administrators would make the kids' best interests their main motivation for making an important decision!
Maybe they're not listing the choir position because they're not going to hire a new director (because of budget cuts). Or they want to make sure the money is there before they advertise the choir job.
ReplyDeleteBut you're right, if the English teacher job is listed then the choir job should be also.
You can be sure central office will have early hours. every break and all summer long htey always do. it's only hour taxpayer dollars being wasated.
ReplyDeleteAs of this afternoon, there are 9 teacher (certified) vacancies posted for our district on the teachinkane.com website. All are indicated as being available starting in August 2010. There are 4 H.S. science positions, including one bilingual (wow--why are all those science teachers leaving?), a German teacher, special ed., etc.
ReplyDeleteNo mention of the choir director position.
Something looks kind of fishy here!
Go to the meeting and ask why that position is not listed.
ReplyDeleteThat would require somebody DOING something. This blog is for bitching, not doing.
ReplyDeleteSo what are YOU doing, 7:02 p.m.?
ReplyDeleteI`m bitching, using this blog for it`s purpose. I don`t have a problem admitting it.
ReplyDeleteThere have been AT LEAST four new science teachers every year for the past three or four years. Apparently that department is a mess. As to the choir position, can they cut the program for next year and just not hire anyone new? Wouldn't that have to be a decision made by the board?
ReplyDeleteI notice in the Beacon that the Diamonds program is being started up again. This is an excellent organization for our young women, as long as it is open for all ethnicities.
ReplyDeleteAnd 9:59, yes there is some bitching going on here. But there are also some of us who have honest concerns & questions--and some who mention the positive in our district, too.
No it isn't. The Diamonds is a high school sorority. High school sororities are illegal under illinois law, same as high school fraternities. Both Boys II Men and Diamonds are breaking Illinois Law. But of course, it's perfectly fine for the administrators of this district to do illegal crap.
ReplyDeleteYou can bet its illegal when Johnson and Clayton are involved. I heard Roberts put out a big lunch for his favorite Board Bully.
ReplyDeleteDiamonds is described in the Beacon article as being a "leadership youth group" for young women. Nowhere in the article (which also mentions Boys II Men) is the word "fraternity" used.
ReplyDeleteService organizations for young people (Boy Scouts, Rainbow Girls, Jack & Jill, etc.) are perfectly legal. Yes, some groups may have originally been patterned after fraternities or sororities, but as long as they are now available to all students regardless of ethnicity they are a desirable, positive part of our community.
If you wrap crap up in a nice new package and bow, it's still crap.
ReplyDeleteIf you talk to the kids, they still call it a fraternity. If go to their website it's still refered to as a fraternity and sorority. Check out: http://www.boys2menonline.org/history.html
Even during the board meeting, Clayton admitted that the organization was set up as a fraternity.
Now because his A$$ is in a sling, he does a few PR tricks and fools like you lick it up off the floor. I don't care what name you are calling it this week, it's still a fraternity/sorority and it's still illegal.
Roberts and Clayton are really buttering up Johnson aren't they. They know she is an easy mark and when they don't need her anymore they will throw her away like yesturdays trash and not want anything to do with her.
ReplyDeleteIt also doesn't matter if you state that the organization is "for Blacks and Hispanics" or if you state it "Primarily for Blacks and Hispanics" it's still obviously discriminatory. Just because they parade their one or two token white kids. that will never change this fact. Clayton has disgraced this district and this town with these groups of his.
ReplyDeleteDo we really care about what Boys II Men is as long as it helps kids. It is a perfectly legal non for profit just like any other non for profit. Why are you on this blog if you are anti kid.
ReplyDeleteIt's not legal and it doesn't help kids to teach them, it's OK to break the law if you have some kind power. This is just a public example of what teachers and staff see all day long, corrupt and incompetent administrators breaking the law all of the time.
ReplyDeleteThink about it this way, if the administration is brazen enought to run this illegal fraternity and sorority publicly, just think about all the crap they are pulling in private.
We see it all the time but if you dare to say anything against them you end up like Green or Kaisershot. Instead we quietly pull a parent to the side and tell them, get a lawyer. What the administration is doing is illegal and your child is suffering for it.
Few dare to stand up because all who do end up being harrassed by our administrators.
Oh shut up, you are so stupid.
ReplyDeleteThere the position is posted now.
ReplyDeleteWhat position is posted? The choir position has not been posted on the district website or the regional website.
ReplyDeleteYes it has. It's right there
ReplyDeleteRight where? It's not in the job vacancies section.
ReplyDeleteI don't know what you are looking at but I see it right there.
ReplyDelete9:50, where is "there"?
ReplyDeleteI went to the teachinkane.com site and looked under both District 131 vacancies and high school vacancies, and there was no choir teaching position listed. Nor is the position listed as vacant on the district website (which links to teachinkane.com).
I saw 9 other EHS positions listed as vacant, but no mention of choir.
This comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteI am new to this job post discussion. I went to look for the choir job, just because of the comments. I do NOT see it from the 131 employment link off the website, either. Maybe it is only accessible to certain people, and not the general public.
ReplyDeleteno, you can't see it because it's not there.
ReplyDeleteNope your wrong it isn't listed in teachinkane.org.

There where 12 listings for D131 and those are the ones.
ReplyDeletewhat good is your union if they don't make the district follow the rules. Where I work there is a union and all jobs have to be posted. Now with that said people do get favoritism but at least they do post the job.
It's funny how none of you actually know how to read. That proves that you pick and choose not only what you want to hear but what you want to read also. Go back and re-read the ENTIRE "choir position posting" on this blog.
ReplyDeleteSo we are hiring and other Districts are laying off. Wow, Dr Roberts should be given the Superintendent of the year award.
ReplyDeleteWe are not hiring new positions. We arc filling positions vacated by those retiring, or resigning because they are being bullied out of their positions. Roberts doesn't deserve any award, the community deserves a stupidity award for giving this administration an open credit line with the bond referendum.
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I still doubt the validity of that vote. How you go from 80% of the community voting no, to passing it the next time really makes one believe there was some ballot box stuffing going on.
It's not just the choir position that wasn't posted. There are a bunch of magnet academy positions filled for next year through building scheduling. Teachers are part time in their building and part time at the magnet academy. These positions were not posted, they were assigned within the buildings by the administrators. All sorts of favoritism was shown. There was no attempt whatsoever to do the filling of these positions legally.
ReplyDeleteIt was not 80% voting no you moron. It was 60 to 40. And how do you do it. You have the biggest presidential election in the history of the United States.
ReplyDeleteYou people have no problem accusing anybody and everybody of anything. Get a fucking life.
The reason the referendum passed was a bunch of losers came out and voted for Obama for the first time. How is that change working for you now.
ReplyDeleteI think people did read the posting someone made up and chose not to acknowledge the last part.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteHere's why the referendum passed:
ReplyDeleteMany thousands of public housing residents, who DON'T PAY PROPERTY TAXES, turned out to vote in the Presidential election.
Also on the ballot was the referendum question. Those public housing residents jumped at the chance to vote "YES"--after all, they wouldn't have to pay for it!
So of course the referendum passed, thanks to public housing residents helping themselves to our hard-earned money.
And for the record, I voted for Obama, and I also voted "NO" for the referendum (because I didn't trust D131 administration to use our money in kids' best interests).
Ok, whatever you want to believe.
ReplyDeletePeople really did not understand the referendum, especially the seniors. That is why it passed. Yes, almost everyone who does not pay taxes voted for it. The proof is in one who spoke before the school board at a meeting. Names do not need to be mentioned, but when this person spoke we knew that they did not pay taxes, lives on section 8 and is on welfare. They did say that if the taxes needed to be raised then so be it. Maybe she should go and get a job now to help with what was stated. Aw, what difference does it make, pretty soon there will be no more middle class and therefore not one left to pay taxes. Middle class will have to go the route of where this person is now because they will have no more money to pay the taxes. Obama is doing a pretty good job of accomplishing this fact.
ReplyDeleteNo matter how people voted about the referendum when it passed it was suppose to help the children not the administration get IPhones or go on trips and take family members.
ReplyDeleteOur teachers have an outdated scheduling system some bring in supplies for their classrooms and for students and they are the lowest paid around I don't know if that is for the whole state. They put up with unruly children and parents that don't care and most of a school board that thinks the superintendent and administration is so great but don't want to give the teachers even a little raise even though they says we are in good shape.
So who really benefited from the referendum is the administration and the superintendent and not the children for which it was intended. We did get a magnet program that only benefits a few and the alternative school which only benefits a few and a business partner of Boys II Men what an accomplishment.
Be thankful you have a job and as far as a raise. Raise the test scores.
ReplyDeleteWith all the crap the teachers of this district deal with on a day to day basis from the community and administration, and for the little pay they get, you should feel lucky to have teachers who are there every day to watch your children.
ReplyDeleteYou don't teach them they are all failing
ReplyDeleteNo, the parents are failing, by not caring if the students pass. It is a FACT that a student with involved parents that find education important do better.
ReplyDeleteEveryone wants to blame the teachers but in fact it is the administration and Superintendent that really has that responsibility to make sure teachers have the tools to teach. They are the ones that pick what the teachers teach.
ReplyDeleteYes, we need parents in this district that care about their child's education but we don't have many of those families in this district.
You have hit it on the head. The small government of D131 is no different than big government.
ReplyDeleteAs long as they keep those at the bottom of the educational food chain fighting for the scraps, the focus is off who is truly reaping the rewards.
Money is being spent on "professional development" for broadening the education of admin. "Tools" and creature comforts for those at the central office are being paid for by our educational taxes. This is what is being prioritized as district business by the board, while teachers and parents get the finger pointed at each other for not providing their fair share to the children.
The teachers and the parents need to form a Parent/ Teacher alliance that would join them together and demand accountability of those formulating and financing the "strategic plans" that are NOT working to educate our children.
The board should be overseeing the work of representing the community, but we cannot get a majority on the school board that can get past the ass kissing of the central office admin. And we have a supt. who is failing miserably at doing what he was hired to do-educated the children of EA!
Roberts should have been let go.
I am sure the board could have hired a "fresh, innovative" administrator that could have given us, at least, what we have gotten from Roberts.
Watching the news again tonight, they are talking about all the different road projects beginning this week. The Wacker Avenue project alone is putting thousands of out of work construction workers back to work. Billions of State of Illinois dollars are being spent on these projects.
ReplyDeleteThe State of Illinois has the money for the projects the Govenor and State Legislature wants to have money for. They simply don't value education.
These education cuts are nothing more than a power play by our representatives to take even more of our dollars in the form of the largest tax increase in Illinois history. Don't allow them to do it. Get out and vote this November.

ReplyDeleteApril f-ing fool, 8:49.
ReplyDeleteMoron.
The agenda for next Monday's board meeting is posted. Under "Personnel & Policy", there is a resolution to dismiss a tenured teacher.
ReplyDeleteWho is the board wanting to get rid of? And why?
They are trying to fire Bob Green because he stands up against the illegal crap the district administrators do.
ReplyDeleteHe won a $40,000+ settlement against the district a couple of months ago and so Roberts is using the first feeble excuse he can to fire the guy.
Wake up East Aurora, this is going to cost us a lot more in the next lawsuit Green is sure to file. It's just one piss poor administrative decision after another.
I heard they are firing Roberts.
ReplyDeleteNot April Fools
Or better yet Kaisershot is coming back as band director
Not April Fools
No, the choir position is actually posted this time.
ReplyDeleteThis blog really matters, and is instituting change.
ReplyDeleteYou're all FOOLS
or better yet, the community is finally going to get a brain.
ReplyDeleteIf the School Board intends to fire any teacher who has tenure, they better have specific evidence at hand that the teacher has broken the law. Otherwise there will be a HUGE lawsuit and the district will have to spend hundreds of thousands of dollars that could have been spent on our students.
ReplyDeleteAnd our community will once more be asking the Board, "how was this decision in our children's best interests?"
Oh, thanks for the advice. WOW, how intuitive.
ReplyDeleteIt does make one wonder when someone wins a lawsuit and then the district finds something on them and fires that person.
ReplyDeleteDon't expect to much from this board if four of them don't like something they will band together to make it go away where it is for the best of the children or not.
I love the hypocrites - We hate tenure, for some teachers, but others it's a saving grace. We hate that the school district only fires non-tenured teachers, except when they try to fire a tenured teacher. Nobody on this blogs knows both sides of the stories, and nobody ever will because the district cannot discuss why they fire, reassign, or discipline an employee.
ReplyDeleteAlthough you will all speculate, and that speculation will turn into truth, and this blog will have done it's job of ignoring facts (BOTH SIDES) and ruining the reputation of more teachers and administrators.
8:32, you're welcome.
ReplyDelete"We hate tenure"--when did anyone on this blog say THAT, 10:12 a.m.?
ReplyDeleteMaybe on other blogs people have said they should get rid of tenure. But in this district, tenure is a good thing--it protects teachers' employment status from being totally at the whim of bully administrators.
But if a teacher breaks the law (and it can be proven beyond reasonable doubt), that's a different situation.
What if a teacher is lazy, what if a teacher is not following appropriate curriculum, what if a teacher does not get along with the rest of the department, what if a teacher has a bad reputation with students, what if a teacher as a bad reputation with administrators?
ReplyDeleteAll of these things are not ILLEGAL but could disrupt the educational process, but YOU cannot be told about them because they cannot discuss it with the public.
What if you are in a district where administrators break the law regularly and retaliate against anyone who dares to speak out against it. That's why the state has review boards to oversee school districts and why they have a court system. The state is aware that there are corrupt administrations and school boards.
ReplyDeleteThe board will terminate Green on Monday and after six months to a year of review processes the district will have to reinstate Green, pay all his back salary and whatever legal expenses are incurred. In addition he probably win another harassment suit against the district and it will cost the tax payers hundreds of thousands more dollars. But we have seen the administrators don't care it's not their money.
If a tenured teacher is not performing his/her duties as well as an administrator believes they should be, they should be given a remediation plan.
ReplyDeleteThe administration is required to outline the areas needed for improvement and a timeframe (60 days, 90 days etc.) for the teacher to correct the behavior.
At the end of the remediation period another evaluation is conducted (by a different administrator if the teacher requests) and the teachers job performance is again evaluated.
Unfortunately in the Green case, the administration has done none of this. Instead because the administration has a personal vendetta against the man for publicizing their illegal actions, they are railroading the man out of the district.
The reason they are terminating the man is ridiculous. Green stood at the entrance of the gymnasium and told entering students to wait while the students still exiting the gymnasium were walking out.
A special education student who didn't even belong in the gynasium at that time of day attempted to push Green out of the way so he could enter the Gym. The kid shoved Green and Green simply pushed the kid back a little to defend himself. The child then let out a whole string of expletives directed at Mr. Green. The child was not injured in an way.
The child in question has severe behavioral issues. He is regularly written up by every staff member. He had a history of physical outbursts. He has had to sit in a three sided cubicle because he can not function even in special education classes. He was expelled because he brought a weapon to school. He is always at the top of the list for his behavioral problems.
Neither the child nor the parent initiated a complaint against Mr. Green. Mr. Green wrote a referral on the child for his behavior, the administration called the child down and when the child said that Green touched him, Joan Glotsbach (Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources and former Pricipal at Cowherd over Mr. Green) was down at Cowherd within twenty minutes with the paperwork already written out on Mr. Green and had him escorted out of the building. They did not even take a statement from Mr. Green before having him removed.
If the man is having real issues with teaching, do things the right way to have him terminated. This is obviously a railroad job because they despise the man personally. Unfortunately because the administration is proceeding in an incompetent fashion, it going to end up in a huge lawsuit against the district which the taxpayers are going to have to pay for.
10:58 asks, what if a teacher has a bad reputation with administrators?
ReplyDeleteWell, if that teacher was speaking up for his/her students' best interests and was supported by hundreds of parents, alumni, and community members then it could be that those administrators were (and are) BULLIES.
Especially when that teacher was supported (in writing, in a letter to the editor in the local paper) by the fellow teachers in their department.
Sounds like Bob Green is out trying to get the Board not to terminate him. He is the only one who would write in his own favor
ReplyDeleteNo, I'm sure Bob Green wants to be terminated so that he can sit on his rear for the next six months to a year while this goes through the ISBE and possibly the courts. When the state reverses the districts decision he'll get all that back pay for doing nothing.
ReplyDeleteI saw Lisa Morales this afternoon during normal district working hours. She was riding around with Wilson and some ugly little dog on her lap.
ReplyDeleteApparently, the central office staff is receiving a full time salary for part time work this week.

ReplyDeleteHey at least Wilson was actually out with his wife for a change. Much better than the daily "donut runs". And as for the central office staff, they have been leaving early all week same as they did last year.
ReplyDeleteI love how the minutes are still not up from the March 1st meeting and the minutes from April 16th are in the wrong place.
ReplyDeleteThat should read February 16th minutes are in the wrong place
ReplyDeleteI e-mailed Lisa about just that. We now need to view minutes on the front page by clicking Board Packets.
ReplyDeleteall other pages will not be kept up to date. However, it would be nice if they could re-direct you to that. Something I suggested as a resident but not followed.
Isn't the law firm the board replaced getting paid to represent D131 in lawsuit with Green?
ReplyDeleteTheir job should have been done. Will they stay on as legal counsel for the district with the recent firing?
Isn't it strange since the new board has been seated a year ago how the transparency has slowly receeded. One step forward and in one year 4 steps back.
I don't know why they don't get smart with Bob Green. The man is only a few years away from retirement. I'm sure if they simply paid his contribution into TRS so that he could retire early with a full pension the man would go away quietly. It would be a lot cheaper than the lawsuits they are going to be fighting with this man for the next several years.
ReplyDeleteWho are you suggesting the law firm is and how would you know unless you are on the Board, Bob Green or a top level administrator.
ReplyDeleteI have to agree with this statement.

We are worse off than we where before. At least the old board tried to do the best for the students and now all we have is a board that only cares about the superintendent and the administration. A board that thinks that the members should all be friends and only care about going out to lunch and being friends with each other and not for making education of the students a priority.
Our students still don't have up to date textbooks. Yes, they have smart boards but they can't all use them. Our teachers don't have all the tools they need to help them and the students they have an outdated scheduling system.
As some say be careful what you wish for because they might come true and it has with this board a nothing board that has done only a few things like extend the superintendents contract and made Boys II Men a business partner. But what have they done for the students?
And I have to agree with :
ReplyDelete"As some say be careful what you wish for because they might come true and it has with this board a nothing board that has done only a few things like extend the superintendents contract and made Boys II Men a business partner. But what have they done for the students?"
In appearance, you would think educated women, semi-retired, who can make their own schedule, no husband or small children would have plenty of time to devote to the important business of the board-EA children.
Actuality, no life, few friends and looking to expand their social circle by attending only those things that can get them free admission to an event or free meal with elbow rubbing, or Beacon News opportunities.
Boys II Men is a great move by this Board. It showed all of these Women do care about the kids. Recently they started the Girls program up again. If one Child is saved, and we know that in all actuality hundreds have been saved then what is the problem with this group. So they made a bad choice with the a word. Have not chosen your words properly.
ReplyDeleteI for one think this Board is doing a great job. The community also thinks the same. The kids are very lucky because these women care. Yes I am a employee of d131. I have been with the District long enough to see the serial bully years brought down this District. Along with a Board that had been to old to care.
bs
ReplyDeleteBS is right!
ReplyDeleteThat is a board member blowing her own horn, pretending to be someone else.
hmmmmm......who is the board member who keeps bringing up Boys2men and diamonds?
9:21 p.m. said:
ReplyDelete"At least the old board tried to do the best for the students"
Oh, really? Supporting a serial bully's personal agenda was best for the students? Ignoring hundreds of parents, alums, and community members clearly-stated concerns and questions was best for the students? Hiding behind "no comment, the issue is over" was best for the students?
Remind us again, 9:21 p.m--where is the improvement promised by the old-guard board as a reason to reassign Mr. K? Do you think we've forgotten just 5 short years ago how that School Board disrespected us?
Until every bully administrator is GONE from this district, a cloud of distrust will continue to hang over those who were responsible for that particular decision!
The old Board was a joke. They spent 24 million of District surplus. Made poor land have deals (lets not forget Bigalow). Wasted millions of District money by not appraising the Police Station land. Created the ruin of the Band program. Hired Roberts as Superintendent. Paid for Marin Gonzalez's Doctor degree. Gave the serial bully a $269,000 golden retirement. fund. That only to name a few. Thank goodness most of that era is behind us.
ReplyDeleteBS - All lies and half-truths.
ReplyDelete5:10 p.m. is one of the old board members.
ReplyDeleteOr a bully administrator.
ReplyDeleteLet's see--4:10 p.m. gave 7 specific examples of why the old board was a joke.
ReplyDelete5:10 p.m. gave NO specific examples of lies or half-truths.
So the credible poster is.....
(no surprise!)
......definitely NOT 5:10 p.m.!
6:31-is the current board member who has trouble with people who don't agree with her. She goes off the deep end and starts using foul language when her truth and communication skills can't hold up

ReplyDeleteMs. Johnson, take your meds and go to bed.
ReplyDeleteOk Rayanne
ReplyDeleteTHEY CAN'T TALK ABOUT IT - THEY CAN'T DISCUSS THE EMPLOYMENT ISSUES OF A SPECIFIC TEACHER - THEY CAN'T DISCLOSE PRIVATE INFORMATION - WHAT THE HELL DON'T YOU UNDERSTAND - Everybody is so concerned with breaking the law (boys to men, open meetings, public information) but when it comes to the band - YOU WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING - Yet the school district discussing the specifics of the reassignment would be ILLEGAL. But that one is ok - HYPOCRITES
ReplyDeleteIt is not illegal for the administration to discuss why they are firing an employee. Districts do it all the time. You see it on the news. Mr. Doe is on paid leave while the investigation is being conducted as to whether Mr. Doe had inappropriate conduct with a student, etc.
ReplyDeleteThe only time districts get into trouble is when they make accusations that they can not substantiate. If you make a false accusation against an employee, the district can be sued for slander and/or defamation of character.
If the district has all these "facts" against Mr. Green, enough so that they feel he should be terminated, they should have no difficulty stating them publicly.
The only reason they would hide behind the shroud of "personnel issues" is if they know that they talking crap and making false accusations.
Let's see some of the transparency we keep hearing about in District 131.
You are correct, there are no school codes that forbid an administrator from stating facts about an employee.
ReplyDeleteHowever, most administrators will not state anything publicly that can come back and bite them in the rear. They are very careful to make sure the things they state are documented.
The question here is simple. If the administration has enough factual and documentable events to terminate an employee, shouldn't they be able to state the facts publicly. If their evidence is so flimsy that they need to hide it, is there really enough to terminate?
Here is another question. Has the board even heard Bob Green's side of the events or are they going only on the word of the administration?
I know for a fact that Bob Green has requested in writing to be heard by the board and that the board has refused to meet with him. Further the administration has forbidden him from entering upon any school district owned grounds, which precludes any possibility for him to be heard before a determination is made.
In short, he is receiving no due process.
The school code does state that a tenured teacher is entitled to a dismissal notice that states both the cause/s for the dismissal and the charge or charges supporting the dismissal action. The notice must be sufficiently precise in order that the teacher is fully informed of the causes and charges and is able to prepare a defense.
If the board refuses to even hear the man, how can they state that they have allowed Mr. Green substantial due process.
The fact is they can't and Green is going to win yet another large settlement against the district for continued harassment.
Get your pocketbooks ready, it's going to cost us big time.
April 4, 8:12AM, 9:54AM, 6:31PM and 8:31PM is the same person and yes, I believe it is the fake blonde on the board. Does not this person who wrote these things and whomever else is using foul language on this blog know what day this is?
ReplyDeleteOn another subject, my condolances goes out to Anita Lewis on the loss of her mother last week.
April 4 @ 8:12Am and 9:54Am made the same words wrong in each of these postings. What a bunch of who-la about hundreds of children being saved. The next thing that will happen is that the secretary on the board will become a buisness partner with the district with that new project of hers, which I would thing is definitly a conflict of interest. It was certainly in poor taste to talk about her new adventure at a school board meeting. What has this got to do with what is best for the students? This is the reason for the school board. The only person who was benifiting when that happened was the person prensenting it. Unless, of course, when this person gets going with this new adventure she is going to give ALL her profits to the district for the students. If she is not going to do this then she should keep her personal business, just that, her personal business.
ReplyDeleteTo: April 4, 2010 11:03 PM
ReplyDeleteThe board doesn't give a shit. Due process is work. It's much easier to just rubber stamp everything that the administration hands them and move on to the next backroom shady deal.
SIMMONS SUCKS!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI don't remember or see any Board comments that show a Board member and a new business. Lies Lies Lies...
ReplyDeleteSounds like someone got rotten eggs for Easter.
It is quite apparent you were not at the meeting when this was done.
ReplyDeleteFor the reecord it is the current secretary on the board who did this. But it was done.
I was at that board meeting and I saw it she is making some cookies with names and other things to sell.

ReplyDeleteIt is a shame that someone thinks that using profanity is the only way they can express themselves they must be a very lonely person to have to draw that kind of attention to themselves.
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by a blog administrator.
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure their problem is loneliness as much as extreme frustration. Upset that things aren't going their way and too stupid to express themselves in a rational manner, they resort to verbal diarrhea.
ReplyDeleteBut that's o.k., because the rest of us just ignore whatever they're trying to say in between the profanities. In other words, they have no credibility whatsoever with the vast majority of people on this (or any) blog.
The East Aurora Board and Administration can reduce anybody to verbal diarrhea and frequently do.
ReplyDeletecredibility, blog, in the same sentance. I hope I never meet any of you who think the information here is of any use.
ReplyDeleteDon't bother reading this (or any other) blog, then.
ReplyDeleteAnd learn to spell.
From the minutes on the March 1st meeting. Rayanne said:
ReplyDelete"The thing is, from the day Anita, Annette and I sat down to lunch with Dee and begged her to take the presidents position,"
Where are the minutes from this meeting?
The minutes are there under approved minutes. Just keep scrolling down and you will see all the minutes including what you are wondering about. Just checked to make sure before this was posted.
ReplyDeleteNo, I am talking about the minutes fro their lunch meeting. School board members are not allowed to gather and discuss school business. From the quote posted, clearly they were, and this is a violaton of the open meetings act.
ReplyDelete
