POV wall

The previous post was getting a little long on comments.
No matter what the topic, bloggers seem to post their point of view (POV) on a variety of issues. So this will just be a new space for continuing those discussions.

You must know a different Rayanne! Hypocritical she is not. Controversial, maybe. Abrasive, occasionally. But she has the guts to speak out and ask the tough questions--and she tries to do what's best for our kids even when it's not the most easiest or most popular. Example: resigning from the School Board.

Move on if you want, we won't miss you. Lead, follow, or get out of the way!

I will tell one example of what I find hypocrytical about Rayanne Carlson, Anita Lewis, and all the other so-called "band supporters":

Mr. Kaisershot was hounded, accused, and ultimately driven from his position of 22 years, despite huge support of the community. Was it wrong? Most likely.

But right now, and for the past 5 years, these women have been doing the SAME EXACT THING to the current band director. They have been making accusations and smearing his name without ever having the guts to address him directly or to even come to a concert. It's not his fault K was unjustly removed.

This is only one example of the hypocrisy these women demonstrate. The outrageous accusations of affairs among Roberts and his collegues that is being allowed to be posted on this blog is another. Whether they are true or not, such slander has no place in a public forum, especially one that EA students have access to.

It seems like most people spend time attacking board members instead of doing their job and that is to run the district. You are the weak and small and care more about attacking people than running the district.

Not for one minute would I believe Weaver would ask Carlson to quit the board and Carlson would not just because someone asked her too. I have heard both of them have different ideas of how things should be. In fact I believe when some of the new board members got on board Rayanne went against Weaver on most things. I believe their is one board member that thinks they are above all the others and if the other board members don't think how they do they get attacked you can see it at the meetings for those that attend. what does this have to do with running a district? They all look like children when they don't get their way they will attack the other ones.

The only hope we have and I don't think it will happen is if the State comes and takes over this district but the State is just as bad as this board.

I have to say for a district that has a 70% poverty rate we pay our band directors very good and from what I hear Hawks if pretty well off you would think she wouldn't take that kind of pay.

That's true - and look what we pay our superintendant! That's just crazy - especially considering how close his salary is to other districts, who have more schools to deal with.

Though, I appreciate those who defend me, for the most part I try to ignore the personal attacks & comments. All my contact info has been accessible on the 131 website for 2 yrs to anyone caring to comment or question me.

There are a few people, 1 specifically, that wants badly for me to stop this blogging, so they post curse words or negative comments about others to make the blog appear to be a bad thing. Then they turn around and incite others by gossiping about me and the blog as if I am the one who has personally wrote these things. Like a naughty child, it is best to ignore them.

There is one "opinion" I would like clarified, since they have made it with a sincere comment.

I stand falsely accused on this one. Tell me one thing I said or did to give the appearance that I "hounded, accused or smeared" the present band director ?

I HAVE attended concerts! If you did not see me, maybe you don't know me, introduce yourself and I will make sure you know I am there.
In fact, I continued coming to band booster meetings after K was gone, until I volunteered for the school board position. Were you at those meetings?

I doubt that teen band students would waste their internet time reading this blog, there are much more interesting things they can access if they are looking.

It is amazing how much energy one board member sends trying to deface other ones and is this how they should act. Some on the board needs to remember that they are there to serve the community, the best interest of the children and our tax paying dollars not to idolize the Superintendent.

There is more than one person who wants this blog shut down.

Anonymous said...

This blog has been running for about 2 years now I think and some not so nice things have been said about people but that is that persons opinion just like we all have our own opinions about things.

Some tell of what is going on in schools and how they see it and there probably is some truth to the stories.

Not until about three months ago did things get nasty on here and I think it was when Rayanne fell out of grace with someone or things where posted about Service Center employees or some administration or the Superintendent but through all the time this blog has been here those things where commented on.

Keep the blog Rayanne this gives people something to vent on. For those who names show up and things are stated about them look at yourself and see if some of it is not true. It is a sad thing that someone has to get nasty on here and think it will stop this blog I think not. The scary thing about it is it is someone in the inner circle of the people running this district. I think some even know who it is and hasn't said anything to them to stop it so they are just as guilty as the one who puts those things on here. Are these the people we want running our district and the sad thing is that there is not to many in the community that will stand up and say anything.

Rayanne should keep the Blog but only for school related issues. She could be held to a personal slander suit because of personal attacks. I know many people have asked her to stop the personal attacks something she has choose not to do. Until someone can prove administrators are stealing money then the words corrupt need to be removed. Until someone can prove others are having affairs then these types of items should be removed. One can express a comment but not when it involved personal slander. I would hate to see Rayanne involved in a personal lawsuit because she by being blog administrator could be sued. Rayanne was worked hard and it would be unfortunate if that took place. So Rayanne if you really are for the public good remove the personal. Attacking a secretary at Simmons who was hardship shows your lack of class.
As a former supporter of yours I can understand it has been difficult with the Districts and I am sure you are relieved to be off the Board. I hope you will be able to move on in life and find some happiness. I am afraid many are laughing at you now because you are using your efforts to make Weaver look the tax payer champ. You do realize all of the Board members, Superintendent and Administrators will defend themselves. Mostly because nothing is going on. They may have differ back themselves up. Yes maybe they did spend money on the play but so do other districts. Yes they hired three secretaries but the district grew. The staff they have is far less than any other school. So were are you going with that. Rayanne was always interested in the students Weaver on the other hand hated the District. Some want a fight and and you are only playing into their hands. Some will end up getting more credit. To top all of this off the public never comes to meeting and does not care. So Rayanne today is Sunday do some soul searching and I really hope you find happiness its just at d131

There is documentation that could support the claims of Wilson and Sandra leaving together everg day. Simmons keeps records of the people who leave and enter the building during the school day. They must sign a register. Of course, since the administration at Simmons keeps the records they will probably be missing when they are requested. There is also a second record kept. All staff have swipe cards they use to enter the building. Each employee has their own code. They could easily check the swipe card records. Unfortunately, as we all know, the administration us not going to investigate themselves.

Don't forget the video surveillance system. They use video tape evidence against teachers and students all the time. I am sure there are video tapes showing the two of them leaving and cumming together on many occasions.

The only person who would be charged with slander would be the person who posted it. The Administrator does not know if it is true and some of you must not read OpenlineBlogspot because worse it said on there than what is said on here. In fact the person who likes to cuss goes on there too so keep the blog. Are you going to ask all the blogs that say things bad about people to stop.

I do think there is truth in some of this and people talk about it anyway so why don't the people that are talked about on here look to see if what is said is true.

I'm glad everybody is ok with "some truth." I hope your bosses give you "some" of your pay check this week and I hope that your cars work "some" of the time.

I'd like to add to what Rayanne said to 8:33 p.m.

I am also one who has been critical of the EHS band program over the past five years. But my focus is on the administration, not on the current director! It was the ADMINISTRATION (five years ago) that insisted on bullying Mr. K out of his high school teaching position, against the objections of parents, students, and the community at large. And it is the ADMINISTRATION (more specifically, those administrators who participated in bullying Mr. K; several are no longer in our district) who should be held accountable to answer our questions about how that decision was in the best interests of students.

Not only were we ignored five years ago when we wrote letters, marched to the service center, and put signs in our yards--we were repeatedly assured by ADMINISTRATION that a new EHS band director was necessary to improve the program. Well, where's the improvement? Mr. Liska seems to be a hard-working young man who deeply cares about his students. It's not his fault that the ADMINISTRATION promised him the moon, rushing him into a job for which he was ill-prepared, just because the ADMINISTRATION was desperate to support a personal vendetta when they COULD have admitted a mistake and returned Mr. K to East High.

I do have several suggestions for those who sincerely want to help the EHS band program:

--Parents, arrange for your kids to have private lessons. A previous poster mentioned that her daughter got first division ratings at the IHSA solo & ensemble contests, largely because of one $15 half-hour lesson each week. I'm sure that Mr. Liska would greatly appreciate this effort, and the bands would definitely sound better!

--Community members, support the program financially. Buy fruit; go to the pancake breakfast; offer to donate to boosters programs. Put your money where your mouth is instead of just griping!

--Continue to remind ADMINISTRATION who were involved in removing Mr. K that we will not forget that this decision was absolutely wrong! Keep asking how this (and every decision they make) is in students' best interests. Remember, they work for US, and must answer to us. Until the last bully administrator is GONE from the district, we will not be silent!

I think we are down to 2, correct?
Harmon & Gonzalez.
Marin being the the main cause and instigator. She was the one who complained K was not one of her “followers” and she needed to make an example of him. Harmon was her air fresher. Once she stirred up “stuff” he was left to make it all smell like something refreshing . He was left holding the pile, so he authorizes money to be invested in the band that was not available to the prior program and then calls it improvements.
Marin has moved on but she still has the smell of manure in her wake with everything she touches.

While it does look like a good deal of money is spent on the musical - if you look at the various board reports (thanks, Rayanne, for being part of the reason behind the electronic board documents!) and the teacher collective bargaining agreement, you can see the amounts paid to people are dictated by the agreement secured by the union.

So you can disagree with the amounts, but the amounts are set by the contract. This is for all of the extra-curricular stipend positions.

Taking the musical, then, for example, if the district decides to have a musical and hires the personnel, the amounts to be spent come from the contract. So maybe the discussion should be if there should be a musical.

But then, if you total up the amounts spend on Football, basketball, etc. you can see the musical is not as expensive a venture.

Maybe it's a discussion of cost versus return. Why are we doing this activities? Are they for the experiences for our children. It is worth it? Can we afford it? Can we afford not to?

Just some thoughts.

Anonymous said...

4:12, you have a point. I can't say one activity is worth more than another for our kids. Athletics are important. Fine Arts are important. And each reaches groups of students who benefit. And we could argue the qualities of both programs.

Don't kid yourself Rayanne. The majority of the community is glad you are gone. I certainly do not want the school district my children attend led by a mother who has never been married to any one of the father of her children. Nor do I think it is good to have a board member whose son is in prison. Not an example of good parenting or for that matter an example of anyone who we residents could be proud to acknowledge as a School Board member.

I have yet to figure out why people feel the need to get personal on this blog. Yeah, yeah, this is not the only blog in the world where people launch personal attacks, but why do we need to do that here?

The issues discussed do not need to mean personal attacks must be launched.

Sure. Rayanne quit the board. But she's served in the community in a variety aways prior to this.

How long did you serve on the board? I sure haven't. I'm not going to question why she quit. Maybe I don't agree with some of her decisions, but I will not attack someone with personal attacks.

Anonymous said...

So Rayanne thinks she's doing a good deed by providing a forum for personal attacks and slanderous statements? No doubt her handful of supporters appreciate the opportunity to follow her lead of spiteful, vindictive, unfounded accusations on anyone who disagrees with them. But that's the spirit that characterized Carlson's short time on the Board - neurotic, defensive assaults on the other Board members, administrators and teachers.
Never anything positive, constructive or productive. I for one am happy she's gone.

If someone were to question someones ability by their marital status, you might ask how a unmarried woman with NO children, no family can make decisions for families with children.

4:24, maybe you're confusing Rayanne with Marin Gonzalez. Neither of Rayanne's sons have been in prison.
