I read in the newspaper that Tannenbaum has been put on paid administrative leave as a result of his possible drug charges. I was wondering if this paid leave is a stipulation (I'm not even sure that is the correct word) of teachers' contracts, or just a decision by D131? If so, do other districts typically do this?

I am not educated in law, but it is my belief that whether he is under contract or not, Tannenbaum cannot be fired or anything until he has had his day in court.

Otherwise, the district or any employer may be accused of considering him guilty without being convicted in a court.

By putting him on leave they are protecting our kids and themselves, until he has been through the legal rights of a trial.

Whether he confessed or not, I think he still has to be found guilty in a court of law before his employer can treat him like a criminal.

I am not a lawyer , so take this comment with a grain of salt.

When is the next Board meeting?

Blog admin said...

All regular meetings are held on the first and third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m., in the Board Room at the School Service Center, 417 Fifth Street, Aurora, Illinois. *Should the first or third Monday fall on a holiday the meeting is held on Tuesday or Wednesday, i.e., September 5th, January 3, January 16th and February 20th.

Or unless the board decides to cancel and not put out a public announcement. Best bet. call ahead.
