Yes, sports fans, it is appropriate to dress down someone and actually raise your voice in doing so. That is totally acceptable in a professional setting - especially a professional setting. Several large issues with this. First, recording someone without their consent in a private setting is illegal in the state of Illinois. The board is better off without Laesch, as they actually get work done when he is not around. It looks like this meeting was a board meeting or committee meeting and Ms. Johnson has gone off like this before. Johnson has no authority to talk to District Employees that way. What kind of Professional threatens people like that? Annette Johnson was also told about the insurance and credit cards but did nothing. I believe she thinks she runs the district and that is not how the Board works. The most important job they do is to hire a Superintendent that is what The IL School Code says.
I applauded the Administration because they know that the proper way to tell things is go to The Superintendent with problems and if these Board Members don't know that they need to get off the Board. As far as the insurance problem the teachers had to pay back the difference of the insurance but the two administrators didn't. One retired and the other was let go but did not pay back the money.

Are you saying he fixed the tape to say those things? It was said it was in private session so does that mean it was done at a Board Meeting in private session? I think that would be a violation of the Open Meetings Act. I don't think a board can go into private session and the Board President brow beat Administration that is what should be looked into.
It's going to pretty hard to claim that posting a recording of Annette going off yet again is a false statement and all defamation/slander cases rely on proving that false statements were made. The truth may be embarrassing to Annette but that doesn't make it libelous. As for its legality, the US Supreme Court ruled about a year ago that a public official performing the duties of their official office has no reasonable expectation of privacy. If they are performing their official function, you CAN record them. That is why you have been seeing so many videos of late involving police brutality. Recently I sent a report to the Board identifying several schools which have areas of great concern due to mold or water damage. Staff within the District provided me with this information. The reason they contacted me is because they DO NOT TRUST ALEX DIMARE to address these issues. Question how long has the water damaged existed? YEARS !!!!!!!!!
Waldo school 4th floor was identified as a severe problem thus Board Member Richard Leonard stepped up to the plate and immediately inspected Waldo several times. As a result, Waldo will be getting a new roof to correct a very serious Health & Safety Hazard to students and staff.
If the employees never contacted me @ I never come out with the building report @ Mr Leonard never gets involved and Waldo Middle School NEVER gets a new roof this year @ To date I have been notified of specific Schools, room numbers and areas which have been neglected due to water damage which pose a serious health hazard.
The recent “Air Quality Test Results” showed there was no active mold. The test was taken in March when mole is in a passive state. HOWEVER mold becomes very active and a health hazard during WARM & HUMID months. Thus the test results would be much different if taken during this time.

John Laesch creates chaos wherever he goes. His wife was a close friend of mine and hearing stories of John remind of her today. I don't know Ms Johnson but I will pray for her as well. John's military background changed him and we need to pray for him as well. He becomes obsessed with an individual and attempts to break them down and destroy them. Why he ever ran for the school board was a surprise to many of us.
Went to the page for the petition and read that on the night the where electing Board positions an employee and their lawyer approached Laesch and told him that the employees was contacted by Annette Johnson and she stated that if that employee did not get back to Johnson she would have the employee fired. Laesch let the other board members know about this and they must of not thought anything about it because her she is again President. Their are laws about threatening employees about if they didn't do something someone would have them fired. When you think that board members are really not suppose to contact employees it makes it worse. The board members that didn't say anything about her bully an employee are just as bad.
I hope this employee follows through and as a Community we should stand beside them. There is no place for this in any work place and especially when that person is not a employee. If this person needs help with payment for the lawyer I hope we can all chip in something because this kind of things should not be happening and you can bet this person is not the only one. This can be costly to to District.
Annette Johnson is one of EA's number one advocates. It's very sad to read the comments made from others that claim to really care about EA, yet these individuals only advocate for themselves, family members or friends. How many times will these individuals come after Ms. Johnson to try to discredit all that she has done for so many EA staff members. Again, if not for Annette, we as an EA staff would have far far less in our contract. In addition, staff members that have been under attack from administration for speaking out at board meetings would today NOT have a job if it were NOT Ms. Johnson seeing "trumped up" charges against these staff members. The facts are simple, there have been too many individuals that have not done their jobs in EA and have to move on. These individuals have done damage for years and when the 204 group joined EA the current corrupt staff actually became worse because they were a perfect fit with the corrupt 204 individuals.
Why is John Laresh so fixated on Annette Johnson? This is creepy! For a board member that has had poor attendance and who has not stayed current with our EA concerns he certainly wants to make strong statements against Ms. Johnson and decisions that have not been passed by Ms. Johnson singularly.
As a resident and tax payer of East Aurora I would like John to speak to this. John you are seeking to discredit an individual that has done more for our EA community than you will ever do. Ralph the amount of respiratory illnesses in East High has quadrupled. I have students with deep phlegmy coughs all year and who blow their noses all year. My own sense of smell has been diminished and I cannot really taste my food anymore. Why have you not come out before this? I have gone on this blog several times and made these comments? If you have appointed yourself a whistleblower and agent for change, please help us, we are suffering. Teachers who were once vibrant drag themselves around, barely functioning. I think a class action suit against this district for its' inactivity is in order.

I understand Mary Lou Peryea was at the Service Center visiting Mike Pop and others on Monday April 18 2016, thus why would someone who lives out of state be allowed access to an area containing highly confidential documents.

Community members and staff at D131 that has been subject to Annette Johnson verbal abuse please do something about it. If you have proof from emails or voice message take it to The State's Attorney. There is the ethic's law that protects your rights. Board members even is they are the President have no right to bully you and it will continue until something is done. BRING BACK BYRD! I know we as a district are in turmoil, we lack leadership, and our students futures are suffering. The BOE has a chance to right a wrong and start us down a path to a brighter tomorrow. Spencer Byrd has made an interest in returning to help fix things and we would do a terrible disservice to our students to not bring this man back. He was loved by the students and staff of EAHS and his vision for the district was truly amazing. He fought the corruption, the hate, the incompetence and ultimately was driven away for standing up for the students, teachers and staff he worked with. Her outbursts have been going on for a long while and every now and then someone pulls the curtain back and shows her for her true self. This is. Not the first time. After reading comments of the petition I'm wondering why no one has gone to The State's Attorney with the complaints. The is something call The Ethic Acts that all employer's are to have employees read and sign every year does EA not do this?
Something else Annette Johnson has no business confronting employees of the district. The Board's only employee is the Superintendent. By her doing this she is breaking the law. Did these board members not read about the responsibilities of the board. There is nothing in there about board members approaching an employee to harass them. This Board is a joke and is not doing their jobs. On the other hand the employees also need to report this harassment to The States Attorney so see what they say and it doesn't cost you anything but having a good environment to work in.

It sounds like Annette and the BOE directed Roberts and his nitwits to do the work of the district. They did not and she called them out on it! There is no story here. Johnson made one mistake protecting Roberts. Roberts was not as incompetent as Popp but he allowed waste and corruption.

Ripped a new one. You didn't feel at anytime after Sheila there was anyone who may have listened, or even anonymously you couldn't have filed with OSHA? As you can see from the comments in the blog. Those who stand up for you are soon harassed and their concerns minimized. They complain and without backing and support from a larger group they are soon disregarded and mocked. People like the minority voters on Board and taxpayers that come forward on behalf of staff, community, the students and are a voice for the silent majority, left standing like the cheese.....alone. Get OSHA to find the mold and establish there is an issue, then find a lawyer who is willing to file the class action on contingency. this can all be done anonymously or creatively so you are not targeted and "ripped" again.
Annette Johnson says on the tape the district lost millions but she has not shown how it was done. Where is the proof. Yes, someone should be talked to if a Administrator or leader has found they make a mistake and has proof to show that they did. They do not have to right to yell or belittle someone there is The Ethics act to follow.
But this is the whole boards fault they continue to let Johnson believe that since she is President she has the power to yell at employees and more or less run the district. Has the board taken broad training? It doesn't look like it. I work with someone who is a Board President and they say they just preside over the meetings, make sure meetings run smoothly and appoint committee members.

Apologies aside, both board members said they don’t agree with the other’s management style.

It seems like all the boards of recent years have been "dysfunctional" and according to Johnson many board members have been "hard to work with" and she has been accused of abusing staff since at least 2012. During all this dysfunction, abuse, and people being hard to work with, what is the one thing that has remained consistent is that Annette Johnson has been trying to lead from 2012 until present. When people say change is needed, I think it is pretty obvious where the root of the problem exists and where change needs to happen.
To Annette you go girl; what you hear is clearly manic behavior. Annette Johnson has been apart of approximately 5 boe. She is the one constant and she is only one vote of 7. Johnson is the hero to the silent majority and this is nothing more than a media ploy to discredit her. It worked it took Mike Popp off the front page and put the blame on Johnson. Leasch is known as an activist and is paid to be an activist. This smells and it smells like Mike Popp playing Leasch to make Johnson life hell. The silent majority knows all about you John.
You have got to be kidding me?!? Unless the silent majority is those people who think families in EA are nothing. They don't count poor people, they don't count minorities, so they are the majority of the people left after not counting most of EA. They don't want to pay taxes for children's education, because they have no school age children. They don't want to pay for bilingual programs because they are monolingual and white. No one needs a ploy to discredit AJ, all they have to do is listen to what she says and compare it to the facts. Popp does not need John and John does not need to do anything, if people would pay attention. But they don't, so he is trying to bring to light what some people seemed to have missed.......or maybe they overlook her flaws thinking she can fix their tax woes...so she is a hero. If she is the best that these people have for a hero, they have more problems than choosing Annette to be their idol.
Popp has ruined the district not Johnson. I worked with her and Hachett on our teachers contract. She was professional and polite as was Hachett. Both took notes and cared about the teachers. Hachett because of work conflicts stopped coming and Johnson continued. Again she treated us with respect and cared about our problems. She worked hard to solve money issues and explained the districts position with honest feedback. Up until Johnson and Hachett started coming Popp, Glotzbach and Trucenbrod were rude, nasty and dishonest. The word failure or poor teachers was thrown around meeting after meeting. Thruckenbrod forced Intherm to tears one day. They made many unprofessional remarks.
I dont listen to illegal tape recording. I olisten to the person. Johnson saved our teachers from on strike.
If you are not a medical Dr. Please keep your medical diagnosis to yourself! What you call manic, we call someone that has had it with lies and cover ups. Talk about a bunch of sheep in this district. There was no bullying taking place either. Nothing more than clearly stating get your act together or you are done. It is absolutely true about Mark, Joan and Popp. The rude remarks, name calling. The tape was release because Popp, Joan, and Mark are hostile over going released. Let's get the word out to the community of EA to sign the petition to get Annette to resign. Our district deserves better and we should make a stand that bulling by anyone will not be accepted. Remember being a board presidents don't have the authority to verbally abuse any employee of the district.

Anyone who reads the blog regularly should recognize her. Whomever is in the Johnson corner gets praised. Those opposing are called names and blamed for anything and everything wrong in the district and become the new main characters on the blog via her comments.
That is her Modus operandi. It is all about her and what she has done all on her own. She shares very little credit and always willing to push the blame. Or as she refers to putting the "focus" on her. She is the one who tries to take the focus off herself when her antics come out for public ridicule. It is my opinion if Popp and Laesch have accomplished nothing and ruined the district, then that blood is on the hands of the entire board. Especially, the president who should be guiding and overseeing the work of the board and its only -ONE - employee. Presently, Hatchett is Johnsons star. She gave AJ the vote she needed for a majority so AJ will share the glory and claim it as a joint effort between the two of them, until Hatchetts eyes get opened, then she will be the next target. That may not happen too soon, as Johnson has run out of people to manipulate, the rest have seen her true colors, so she will have to restrain herself from alienating anyone else for a while.
Tomcat 8 or Rayanne has ruined the district more than anyone in the last ten years with her blog. The blog turns good people into enemies and all of the BOE members that stay on the BOE are ok in my book. Who would want their job? NOT ME. AS for Rayanne she hates Annette because Annette stood up against her and the blog.
I hope that some of the employees that Annette Johnson has verbally insulted take action against her she is breaking a Ethic Law.
The fact that people on this board can condone this is even more upsetting. They need to stop and think if this was happening to them would the stand for it.
This board is a joke and as long as they keep Johnson and believe she has the right to belittle employees with no evidence that they have done nothing wrong are just as guilty of breaking the law as she is. I was just thinking the same thing. Why isn't All of EA up in arms over stealing and lying to cover up mismanagement of funds? Since when is it bullying to tell individuals that are being paid a highly compensated income to cut the BS and do your job or you can get get our of here? In addition, why is it ok to use the word bullying so irresponsibly. There are true incidences of bullying where children have taken their lives because of bullying. You should be ashamed to use this word where it does NOT apply. The Adults they were paid to do their job were stealing and covering up for each other. They got caught and now want to play the victims. In fact, this brings us all back to Kristen Strand and her holy robbers band of thieves. We as in EA should all be screaming and stomping our feet over that too. Never in the history if EA has there been a more corrupt group and they are masterful and spin city. Although most school boards traditionally marked the seating of new members with some form of ceremony, there was no official oath of office required for school board members until Public Act 94-0881 was enacted into law in 2006. This law requires that school board members, before taking their seats on the board, take an official oath that is in substantially the form presented below:

I find it amusing every time someone accuses me of being the author of a comment and I know it is not me. In this most recent comment, I would like to disagree, Annette has never stood up to me or against the blog. When she was trying to be my new best friend, years ago, she would brag to me how she used the blog to spew lies about people. I asked her not to continue to do that as I was trying to make the blog be a place for people to share honest information and opinions. I never sensored or screened comments and Annette took full advantage. She found it quite funny, in fact, when she boasted to me about writing comments about a fellow board member, Dee Weaver and her daughter. I see this is still being done, by someone, to other Board members and their children.
I handed the blog off to someone else over 5 years ago. They improved it by screening comments before allowing them to be posted. It is my opinion, I nor this blog could or has ruined the district, nor could a blog possibly turn "good people into enemies." I have never stated I hated Annette. I have said things, such as, she doesn't have a connection to our children, our community, nor the schools. I have said I feel sorry for her. I do not hate her, I hate the reputation she has created for our district. We have become a good example of what not to do, when it comes to how our school board operates. I have chatted with people in surrounding communities. When the subject of our school board comes up, others know Annette by name and role their eyes or shake their heads.
I, the blog, nor Annette can ruin our district. We have good people, caring people in this district and we have dedicated, committed teachers and staff. I feel, as long as we have Annette on the board, employees in our district have to work extra hard. Not only do they have the daily task of a struggle to work in a district with additional challenges, but it is an uphill effort to work in a place that has such a colorful reputation for the way that business has been done. This has probably been the case for at least the "last 10 years" that was mentioned in a previous post.
As has been said before....you will see fingers being pointed at all sorts of people, in order to take the focus off Annette. I rarely go to board meetings and rarely post on the blog, yet my name has been dug up and thrown out there on a few occasions. Why? Is she running out of people to throw under the bus? If Annette or one of her friends or supporters decided to keep bringing my name out, that's fine. If you wanted my comment, now you have it. As a former board member I will not disclose my name because I don't want my family attacked. I will however set the record straight about Rayanne.
Rayanne threw a tantrum and quit the BOE over the renewal of Dr Roberts contract. That was certainly in right but she blamed Annette for it and spread many lies about her. It is true many BOE members including Annette have asked Rayanne to stop the blog. Annette actually explored legally stopping the blog because she felt it hurt the district. She did take it one step further than any of us and again it made her the goat for Rayanne. Rayanne makes it her business to call everyone and tell them stories about Annette. Annette has never told me she uses the blog to get even with anyone. She has always stated it stops us from getting high level people because they don't want their reputation ruined. The main page still makes reference to Rayanne as the leader of the blog. Rayanne tells everyone she does not run the blog because she is afraid of a lawsuit. She is responsible for the slander since she has no way of proving the claims. No, everyone Rayanne is a bitter women for her experiences with some 131 staff. I will agree Rayanne was never treated well by some district administrators and many of the issues Rayanne discussed have been true. Rayanne did bring up insurance, credit cards and waste. Rayanne was unfairly targeted with union action something I have always felt was a way to silence her. The difference with Annette and Rayanne was she never backed down and the district is better for it.
The tape shows and proves the administration always lied and coverup to the BOE. Annette was feed up and who would be after all the lies from district administration. Her tactics are tough and business like. Verbal altercations are a part of every day life and politics. I also feel sorry for Annette she is the scap goat.
Has anybody else ever noticed that there are a lot of posts on here supporting Annette, however none of them are posted when she is busy in board meetings. Annette must spend a lot of time on here posting and creating the illusion of support.
I’ve heard the latest Annette tirade that was released, just as I heard the tirade she spewed at Ray Hull and I have spoken to enough board members and administrators to know that these are not isolated incidents. I have also read the police report where Jerome Roberts reported that Annette Johnson threatened to take a gun and shoot him and the entire board in executive session.
Most people are posting here deciding if it was justified for Annette to yell or not. We are missing the real issues. First, a board member has no authority to act on their own. She shouldn’t have been speaking to these individuals in the first place (Rayanne was reported to the States Attorney for speaking to employees and that was to try and help them), let alone screaming at and threatening them. Next, if you listen carefully, Annette states that she is aware of a whole list of corruption by these administrators and if they don’t resign (which they didn’t do) she will make it public. Four years later these administrators that she was yelling at are still employed by the district. Annette claimed that they were guilty of all sorts of corruption and cost the district $10+ million dollars yet nothing was done to these administrators. They were and are still collecting obscene amounts of salary paid by the tax payers.
Annette needs to answer to the community about how she could allow this sort of corruption on her watch. It is clear from the recording (the smoking gun) that she knew these things were going on and did nothing to hold the individuals accountable (other than scream and threaten them). She is in panic mode now attempting to throw blame around everywhere but these facts need to be addressed. How can anybody in good conscience support Annette knowing that she had this information and did nothing. It doesn’t matter if the administrators in question were incompetent or corrupt, they should have been removed, as Annette should be now.
I was at a visitation this week for a recently retired employee (but he still coaches in the district) who lost his wife. This man has been a part of District 131 for the past 63 years. He was a student in District 131 and later became a teacher and coach for the district. He was a pillar of the community and knew people throughout the district and surrounding areas. At the visitation many current and former employees and community members came to pay their respects. John Struck was one of the former administrators who came. This is because of how the district used to be. Central office administrators came from the within the district and community. They had a real stake in our children and staff. Even now after many years in retirement, John Struck came to the visitation because he was a part of the EA community. Can anybody see our current central office administration doing this?

There is no respect or compassion from our current administrators (or board). They don’t know the people they work for and therefore have no connection with them. They can’t even feign empathy. It is no wonder our district is in the state that it’s in.

Speaking of wasteful spending, it appears that Nate Parry who was previously appointed Interim assistant principal of athletics by King Crespo with no interview process or transparency, is staying on in his role even though Dennis Renner returned back to work yesterday. We are still getting early dismissal emails for athletics from Nate. So now the district is paying two people a prorated six figure salary to do one person's job???? How can the school board be okay with this? Simply wasting money and neglecting Nate's students since they don't have their "expert" in front of them on a daily basis. King Crespo reigns supreme, who cares about money and protocol, the King has unlimited money.
Speaking of the King.....he used the school robo call machine last Thursday to call parents in a panic with false information freaking out about an alleged "spur of the moment" board meeting Thursday night and Saturday. He must've thought he was on the chopping block Thursday because he lied to parents and tried to get them to attend the board meeting on his behalf. The district then had to sit him down with the lawyer to come up with a statement to retract his previous robo call via another robo call. It is absolutely stunning Crespo has a job still. He is not qualified, incompetent, a bully, and suffers from a major Napoleon complex. How much longer must we deal with this? How much longer must he yell over the radios at PPAs for no good reason? The fact that Popp and Truckenbrod hired an inexperienced, not teaching certified or educated person(he has a bachelor's degree in international business NOT EDUCATION!!) to be principal justifies their firing. Popp defends Crespo and claims he has a teaching certificate but this is easily disproven by checking ISBE's public search engine.
East Aurora Council membership will be selecting new leadership in the coming weeks and the singular choice for Union President will certainly come back to haunt us all. Despite a thick resume and seemingly bountiful accolades - the rubber fails to meet the road here for this potential candidate. As a building union representative for Cowherd, information on contract negotiations was rarely made widely available to rank and file over the length of negotiations. As a building union representative - the priority is others before self. Please defend voting intimidation practices conducted at your building during the tenuous "Strike Authorization" period. This was inexcusable. Balloting was supposed to be impervious to this type of conduct under your supervision. Likewise are the observed behaviors at East Aurora Council meetings calling for "No Side Bars!" while engaged hypocritically in the same behavior. Will this also define your tenure as president of our council? In a candidate's forum could you also defend this widely circulated allegation of having passed a yearlong "Failing" eighth grader to East High School for bringing in a specimen of "Road Kill" - as the singular criteria to pass a year of middle school science. Probably not! I wonder how this student and instructors faired in the years that followed. How well will union rank and file be represented under your leadership? Evidence suggests a cozy relationship with Cowherd's building administration and the use of leverage to gain position with compensation. All in all these are unfavorable understandings on my behalf. If your business experience, degreed resume, educational leadership, and instructional pedigree are of any indication of what's to come - then I'd steadfastly question why you're in this profession at all. Without another candidate to select from I will not be making a ballot decision for Union President. Likewise, I'd like to see this lack of choice and absence of selection a sign of discontent to come.
The man hasn't even become president yet and you are bashing him? I've worked at Cowherd for many years and have NO idea what you are referring to. The man has incredible rapport with his colleagues. All information that was shared by Sara and the union was communicated to the staff. There was no intimidation when it came to voting. All ballot votes were secret and counted with several people in the room. Further, I've never known him to pass any student that didn't deserve it, let alone as you describe. Road Kill? Really??? I've never heard such crap. If you are really a union member, have the cajones to face the man and discuss your issues. Don't hide anonymously on a blog and spout such garbage. Of course, what is much more likely is that this is an administrator or board member trying to discredit the man before he is even sworn in.
It appears Ms. Strands son is back on the internet doing her dirty work. He posted on the eahs seniors Twitter page about signing mr chaos John Laesch petition and it also appears he has started the Facebook page. Crespo has warped the minds of his student advisory committee as has Popp with his committtee. Crespo is a terrible leader and his true colors are coming out using kids for his own personal gain. If he was actually doing his job he wouldn't need all this nor would he need to manipulate students and parents. He would be able to let his work do the talking.
Ms Strand is sneaky and corrupt. To use her son to Keep Crespo shows she has and end game. She is also behind the John Laesch petitions because of her desire to get control of EA. My mama also told me that when a person yells they tell the truth when a person sneaks around like Ms Strand and uses Laesch to do her bidding they can not be trusted.

Having worked with said candidate for many years now it is obvious you have not worked closely with him at all. He is a teacher with integrity and dedication. He was forthcoming with information about the negotiations age did not push his personal opinions onto the staff at Cowherd. He has shown good leadership skills as a mentor and union rep and will be a good strong union leader who will look out for the needs of the staff, the whole staff. Vote or not he's the best candidate available.
Ralph why are you attacking a student? What are they? You are beginning to sound like Johnson. You must know one board member can't change anything. If this Crespo is threatening employees why don't they do something about it. There is a thing called The Ethic Act that lets employees to report threats against them.

I spoke with board president Annette Johnson about her recording. She said it isn't a big deal. She said people are glad she speaks that way. She said she is holding people accountable. But if my daughter talked to her teacher that way she would be suspended! If a teacher talked that way they would be suspended!! Why not the same for a board president?? She said the people are behind her. She is wrong. There is a good idea on the petition. There is a board meeting Monday night. Not sure if it is at high school or other building. We need to read each of the comments from the petition to her. We are parents! She cannot ignore us! This is not ok!!

To "EA Parents": What arrogance to claim to represent ALL the parents in EA. And how untrue. You do NOT represent me. While SOME EA parents may agree with you, THIS EA parent DOES NOT. As far as the petition, Laesch (who got just over 800 votes in HIS election) says he has ~380 responses. How many of those responses have names? Any "signature" that is anonymous is invalid. And Laesch wants to disenfranchise all those voters. I worked my ass off for my B.A. and M.A. from 2 Ivy League schools that I EARNED scholarships to. Graduated at the top of my class. Both times. If you think we pump out anything it is how to act civilized, be a good citizen, do your part to get ahead, that there are no shortcuts in life. Change Org is not a valid petition and everyone needs to be very careful reading others names since we have no idea of who signed this. A real petition requires a your name, address, and a signature. Laesch should know this since he has been involved in many political campaigns. He is defaming Johnson since he did not tell everyone what the tape was about. While I' disagreed with Ray on many topics he spoke openly at meetings about the distinction of the board and particularly about how Annette bullied staff. He wore his emotions on his shoulders and it showed on his face. I'm puzzled about how is the continued in fighting his fault. At one meeting before the election Ray stated that east Aurora was going to get the board it deservedNow I read the beacon today and there was an exorcism taking place at the board meeting. Johnson says she is not the epicenter so does that mean that Ray is.
I teach my students a simple rule in life. If I am having difficulties with one person, I take a step back, analyze the situation and determine if they have the issue or do I. When I am having difficulties with many people, I know the issues are with me. OR, to put it another way, the only consistent factor in all of Annette Johnson's disfunctional relationships is Annette Johnson.
How many police reports, audio tapes personal experiences and lawsuits will it take before this community understands and deals with her. John Laesch and Ken Darby may not be perfect but that doesn't mean they are wrong. And if Annette Johnson's only defense is to say, ignore the bad things you see because I mean well or have done some good things or I am passionate or its somebody else's fault. It's definitely time for a change. They've cleaned house at the administrative center, it's time to do the same in the board room. I hear you loud and clear. I agree with a lot that you are saying. The universities do not teach dumbing down philosophies or incompetence. They teach the history and theory of the educational history of America. I received my teaching degree from Roosevelt Uni. And Aurora U. For middle school. I learned so much and I worked my ass off for that Masters. It is not the universities but the U S govt, that is allowing these free, dumbed down handouts. They are not holding the parents responsible, but are making us the tax payers responsible and accountable for this public school mess. This past year you have chosen to ignore repeated purchasing violations and his reign of terror directed to the heart and soul of the High School “Staff & Teachers”. Need I bring forward certain emails which shows your intent not to respond?
Annette: Last Bd Meeting I publicly appealed my request to visit Waldo School with Board Member Mr Richard Leonard. To this day I have no response.
Evidently I am being denied access from Mike Popp yet he allows “Ohio Resident” Mary Lou Peryea to visit the Central Office unescorted and to visit other Administrators Offices whom had confidential documents on their desk.
Also Crespo has his wife and children visit the High School during school hours. I am an American Citizen, Veteran, and Taxpayer thus have every right to tour a Public Building. I remind this Board that I have exposed many a Purchasing and Personnel Hiring Violations the past several years. As a result Hundreds of thousands were saved.

If we were to open our schools to one person, a person who has no affiliation with East Aurora School District 131 and has no business related to education at the school, then we would have to open up the school to anyone who made a request to go through the school. This would disrupt the daily operations of the school.
Additionally, even when students are not present, there are liability issues with this request. For obvious safety reasons, we do not make all areas of our buildings open to everyone. We need to keep both the visitors and the school safe at all times. The safety of our students, and consequently the buildings where they attend school, is paramount.
I will notify the building principal that this visit has not been approved.
To: Change is coming. You explain well to your students. I wish more adults would acknowledge your reasoning. Sadly, I do not think the fans of Annette will ever accept it. Nor will she. She will always have a new line for her defense. She needs to be removed as president, but even more so, from the Board. Hopefully, voters will come out and make that happen. D131 staff have seen Ken Darby and John Laesch at Papa Bears meeting with Ray Hull. Current district administration was discussed. Hull is not a board member and has lead to the disruption of 131. Laesch thinks he popular but he is not and he drank the koolaid. Everyone knows Darby did get political favors from Popp with regards to his son and girlfriend. The union will never stop a pay upgrade or positive reclassification but we have seen Glotzbach and Popp handle this for Mr Darby.
At the ASC yesterday Richard Schroader could be heard screaming at a staff member by the name of CC. Waddell did nothing. This has gone since the Popp era and make Johnson tape very mild. Ms Johnson has fought for us and is being made the scapegoat. The staff knows that she has been the only leader strong enough to listen and many view her as courageous.
Johnson has recognized the corrupt administration and like her or not addressed it.
Does anyone see a pattern Popp and Hanley and of few of their abusers like Garza, Cresbo and Rowley are making it appear like the board is creating all the problems. Laesch and Darby are using their positions on the board talk about the past and blame Johnson.

So Ray Hull claimed white people could not teach black and brown kids, but this white guy, Popp, could come in and reach them??? C'MON MAN.
Dr. Popp was fired, or "reassigned' for banging his secretary at Neuqua, whom he just recently married this past fall. Real winner.
Truckenbrod is a music teacher, who has a made up title from Popp, and who was going to be fired from his principal job in 204 because his school and students failed to meet growth standards. He is a bully, a liar and a manipulator.
Glotzbach is yet another music teacher, with a made up title, who, along with Truckenbrod, is in charge of overseeing all buildings and principals and instruction. What makes music teachers qualified to hire principals? What makes music teachers qualified to know about math and English and other core courses?
Hanley took it upon himself to speak for teachers, staff and students that we love all the fired administrators, what gives him that right?
The district is better off without these incompetent, lying, bullying and threatening administrators and PR people. Kudos to Annette, Kim, Alex and Dick. They heard the teachers and staff and responded by dropping the hammer. Well done. As a teacher said at the board meeting, now finish the job and TAKE OUT ALL THE TRASH!!!! Get rid of Crespo and his subliminal quotes about what he is going through......this guy is something else, we have gotten quotes about a toxic environment(of which he has created himself), among other items and now his latest about building a foundation with the bricks people throw at you from his twitter page and over the PA this morning. The administration should get fired it took 7 seminars to discover this and Popp states there are no checks and balances in place. Really is that not what happened with the insurance. How about all the kids who use these grades for scholarship opportunities, how about the kids forced to retake classes what is the cost of that. FIRE THEM ALL AND RECALL LAESCH AND DARBY.
So much for teacher appreciation week. Below is a direct quote from the letter that Matt Hanley sent out to the teachers and staff of the district (Including the spelling errors). The district administration (approved by the board) set up a computer system that has many issues. The issues have been going on for 4 years. They provided very little professional development and support on the system. They change the system several times a year and then want to hold the teachers responsible for their incompetence.
"Will there be discipline for the staff involved?
Accurately calculating grades is a primary responsibility for classroom staff." "If the District identifies any situations that merit disciplinary action, those personnel will be property notified and the District will follow the appropriate discipline process."
We also need to be very vigilant when looking at our paychecks this week. On May 13th we are supposed to see our raises and retro pay that were agreed to in the new contract. Reliable sources have indicated that not everybody will see the raises promised. Christie Tyler has been ordered by her superiors to NOT give raises documented in the new contract to 1st year teachers. The secretaries and support staff have already seen that the new contract means nothing. The district has ignored the new contract and made changes that were never agreed to and voted on. Make sure you report any and all issues to your union rep.
It's that time again. Hundreds of kids have been failing their classes all year long, now the administrators come out of the woodwork and order (without putting it in those words because it would be illegal) teachers to pass them on to the next grade. We can't have the numbers look bad. Got to keep the promotion and graduation rates looking good. There are kids who have failed every class this year and we are being told we have to pass them to the next grade. Teachers are being told to give passing grades to students that haven't shown up to class all semester. This district is an insane asylum and the patients are running the place.
Lies, Lies and more cover-ups. The administration has always known this grade issue was a problem. Teachers have complained at the start of every new school year about the program. The middle schools calculate grades much in the same manner. Most building don't even have a Campus go to. The teachers have been told just pass kids. That was the direction of Mark Thruckenbrod and other administration dating back to Marin Gonzalez.
The board should fire everyone and hopefully they will have better luck with proven leaders.
Just a note Angie Rowley has had many screaming matches with teachers and slammed her door some have been told we are not welcome in her office.
Twila Garza has sat in teachers rooms all day reading a book as a form of harassment for teachers who dare to speak up. She has left Scott Strand alone huh funny that she is our voice. Don't think so everyone wants you to resign today.

So much for respect. Glozbach wagged her finger today about professional development. She said the problems in students grades do not happen in other districts because teachers work on their time to set up grades books and get training. She complained that there is not enough time in the school day to properly train teachers and they need to be responsible for themselves.
Her tone is that we are lazy. Its a funny thing Glotzbach forgot next year she will be a teacher because we are sure she is not capable of finding a job.

Glotzbach is correct. Teachers do need to be responsible for setting up their gradebook properly. We are sent a document every semester detailing exactly how to set our gradebooks up. There is no excuse for a professional not being able to follow simple, step-by-step, written directions.

Every employee has to accept that he/she has a part in the failure of the district. So, just because Annette raises her voice and does not hold back, you are somehow 'offended"??? What a pussy. The silent majority knows at the SSC that Roberts and other administration threaten to silence Ms Johnson who should have turned them over to the police. Ray and crew paid Roberts a $78,000 gift and let other settlements happen like Earnest Clark. Lets not forget the $80,000 paid to a person with no finger prints. We don't know what went on behind the iron curtain but we know the timing of the Roberts false report was interesting. Police reports in Shorewood indicate that the same weird questionable behavior went on between Roberts and his Ex wife. Some SSC employees gave copies to the Beacon and it was never reported on. We also provided names of employees from Calumet Park were Roberts was fired and news articles from the South Town again it was never reported on.
Speaking of reports why did Crosby not report on sexually and racially sensitive statements made by Hull to the teaching body. It seems the paper had double standards and some feel Hanley was paid overtime to keep Hulls comments out of the news.
Credit Cards and insurance rocked admin's boat and that is a credit to Johnson nobody can deny that. Everyone at the SSC knew we had ghost employees getting insurance. I was the unspoken word.
Ms Johnson does have supporters many of us. She is successful because we had her successful but no other board president would listen. Melcher, Farnham and Mccue were all well aware of and its problems. Johnson solved these problems but now we understand what a whistleblower is and that is why so many do not come forward. We do not want to be assaulted like Johnson.
We also know the back room deal to hire Popp and the boards unwillingness to interview more candidates. Popp did not fully understand the corruption of East Aurora and everyone knows he was willing to look the other way. Roberts was a crook and Popp was a fool

Ray Hull is one of the biggest racist there is. Dear Tired of the Board. You are correct in your comment about Annette not having the authority and yes, she should not be communicating to any of the staff about job performance. They hired a supt. to do that. When it comes to student discipline, though, there is an administrator who brings the "case" before the board and makes a recommendation on what consequences the student will face. Such as suspension, expulsion. It is the Boards decision, sort of like a court, to discuss, ask questions and decide what the final punishment will be. That is my best translation of the duties. Maybe someone else can clarify better.

Waddell applied for many jobs at 204 and was never hired in Central Office and Thruckenbrod had one of the lower preforming schools and after Thruckenbrod left it improved.

If Dr. Popp is leaving the last of June what can he do about the grades scandal? The district needs to have someone who can follow through with whatever needs to be done.
The whole "grades scandal" could have been averted with the simple implementation of a default that would set up the weighted categories at each school. But this would have taken some work. The "facts" are that they have changed an entire computer system once or twice a year sometimes just days before grades were due, and given zero training. Just an email, which is out of date. For example- Kristin Imberger will send out quarterly grade posting instructions at progress reporting time, from 2014. I actually feel this is a cover-up for the failure rate and the reason admins are changing grades and not teachers is to fix these "failures" That's okay dillweeds, your scapegoating of teachers is transparent and will be uncovered as a mess that YOU created and perpetuated through poor planning and shoddy administration.
I have to ask why the bilingual director and her family keep traveling to Spain every year to "recruit" bilingual teachers? Many of them not even teachers, just professionals from other disciplines searching for a job and the opportunity to travel abroad. Bilingual teachers were told that this practice was going to be discontinued because the recruits were not holding up. Many of them did not know what to do with our students. Many of them would just stay for a year and be gone. Do we have the money for these trips to continue? Why are we not more focused on providing bilingual recent university graduates here with the opportunity to teach in their own community? When is the director going to understand that even when Spaniards and Mexicans speak Spanish the cultural connection is not there? We know that students need to feel valued by their teachers to thrive. In general I have seen that teachers from Spain feel disregard and look down on their students. It is like th conquest all over again. It is a shame!
Glotzbach again. The past computer person (Ali) was holding Campus accountable. He ended up in a shouting match with Campus bigwigs and Glotzbach told him he was never to touch campus again. A letter is in his file from Joan. To date not all the records are in the system and it was something the district paid for. Students records only go back to 2011. It does not give teachers the entire picture on a student. Ali was fighting for teachers and had enough and left.
Then comes Childress and Imberger both are not network people and with a district as large as 131 every district has one. Popp did not think computers were important. Thus the grade scandle.
Shields quit and our other top computer guy will some retire. Hopefully with new leadership the retirees will fix the technology department.
I would like to share with "connection is important." Approx. 9 years ago, I asked the same questions about "why we recruit teachers from Spain?" I had been told by Marin Gonzalez, the reason they went to Spain, was the teachers came with certifications and other criteria required to teach. I don't recall all the terminology, as it has been many years ago, but basically, these teachers were better prepared to teach in our classrooms and they could not find qualified applicants for the positions in the continental U.S. Shortly after my conversations with Marin, I spoke with one of EA 2008 distinguished alumni who is a dean at NEIU in Chicago. She assured me, whatever these candidates in Spain were bringing with them, NEIU could make ready their students with the same requirements and certification. She gave me her card, I passed it and the info on to Marin, the trips continued. I was told by teachers, the recruits did not stay. They were not a good fit with our students. They were from Spain and our Hispanic students were from many other countries, but not Spain. I was told a large number of them just got home sick and went back. So I questioned the "bargain" they claimed to get shopping in Spain for teachers rather than anywhere else in the USA. I received the same answer that it did not cost that much to go there and there were no candidates here in the U.S.
It almost sounds like certain administrators wanted an excuse to get a free trip to Spain.
And as someone who has family members who were born in Mexico, I can tell you that Spanish is spoken VERY differently in Spain than in Mexico. Not only is the pronunciation of many consonant sounds different, but expressions and idioms used in Mexico would be totally misunderstood by people from Spain (and vice versa). Spain and Mexico are on two different continents and are two different cultures! It would be like sending someone from Australia to teach in a Texas public school. Add to that the fact that a NEIU dean says our college education majors are equally qualified...it adds up to a hare-brained idea, as well as a free trip for admins.
Last year we had 11 positions not filled in Bilingual yet again many good teachers including the many from this country are released every year. We lost a excellent teacher at our school run by a Popp flunky because she was told she does not get along with her PLC group. That was a lie because the PLC group did not complain. These are the daily lies of the Popp era
We are glad Glotzbach is gone she never worked with Bilingual teachers, many left or new graduates never got interviewed. That's why we go to Spain because of horrible administration. Glotzbach has been one of the main problems.
The reason we have a grade fiasco is Popp. When our union complained about the big salary increase of Hanley Popp was response was the following. I saved money on the technology department by giving the job to Childress. Childress is not a technology person and the money should not be spent on Hanley. He is of little value. It proves Popp does not care about students only himself. He can send us all,the letters he wants but we know his image comes first and $87,000 is still to much to pay for someone that is worthless.
The latest episode in the reign of terror is Crespo if you speak in public like our football coach does against him will post your job and tell him he is personally going to sit in on the interviews to replace him. Crespo is also sitting in on other interviews in the PE department of coaches he does not like. He actually thinks he knows something about coaching. This is the same insane piece of garbage who can't build a team. Crespo told some he had a job but one look into his background shows he is unemployable. Most school districts want someone with a real degree. Not EA Popp will hire any piece of garbage as long as they yes sir.

I specifically selected Kirsten Strand, Ken Darby, & John Laesch for this email as they have been the voices of “No Change in Administration” and advocating the “Popp Era” is doing a “Great Job”. They did vote to retain his “select group” in an attempt to keep them employed at East Aurora.

Popp and Crespo are some of those men, so is Laesch. Popp wants to burn down the district before he leaves June 30th. Crespo has done this before when he forced out and fired a beloved cheer coach at proviso east. The cheer coach was reinstated and Crespo was shipped off to proviso west for his part in the fiasco. It appears he wants to fire Becker now and repeat his past. King Crespo the micro-manager will sit in on interviews and force Renner to hire another coach, as he has done with other positions that were open. He will verbally tell Renner, as to not leave a paper trail and when the community is up in arms, Crespo will put all the blame on Renner. Just wait and see. Crespo has previously done this with his precious ACT pull-out program where he directed the AP's including Renner to just give the students full credit for missing PE. It is time for The State Board of Education to come in and get things right. We have a board that has someone acting like a child and stating some of the members are better than others since they did something to try and fix the mess then you have some in the district pointing fingers at Popp and Administration and teachers. In other district news Crespo attacked and suspended one of our building administion today violating his medical rights. Popp is backing him up. Crespo is the only administrator allowed to suspend someone with out approval from any of his superiors. The board can plan on a big lawsuit and multi staff coming forward for the reign of terror. We are fed up and not going to take it anymore. It is also well documented that his behavior was the same way at Proviso.
Guess Ralph missed the Beacon story from Wednesday about the Fine Arts Festival tomorrow; instead of asking if the handicapped seating is messed up and "if so", he could have supported EAHS by attending the festival (hey, Ralph, it's free!) and looking for himself before this latest posting. It could easily have waited until Saturday evening or Sunday, when he'd be able to report what he saw with his own eyes.

Why are the rules always different for mama Kristen Strand and her children. Her son is on Facebook and has friended district employees. The school district has warned us not to friend students but it is acceptable for him. If you are not part of the "All in" crowd as a staff member friending other student we would get a reprimand or suspended without pay.
Also, is the policy Dr Popp enforcing on teachers helping her son with a higher grade point average? We have been told to move the grades up not down. Is that fair to other students in other districts that are competing for scholarship?

Yes, sports fans, it is appropriate to dress down someone and actually raise your voice in doing so. That is totally acceptable in a professional setting - especially a professional setting. I don't know what planet you live on if you don't think so. People need to be called out for their ineptitude and in a very direct fashion not some "politically correct" way. Several large issues with this. First, recording someone without their consent in a private setting is illegal in the state of Illinois. Second, posting an audio file which could have been manipulated in a variety of ways not to mention not approved by the people who were present in the room and then adding your own personal prophecies Mr. Laesch is not only unethical as a board member it is illegal as well. It looks like this meeting was a board meeting or committee meeting and Ms. Johnson has gone off like this before. Johnson has no authority to talk to District Employees that way. What kind of Professional threatens people like that? Annette Johnson was also told about the insurance and credit cards but did nothing. I believe she thinks she runs the district and that is not how the Board works. The most important job they do is to hire a Superintendent that is what The IL School Code says.
I applauded the Administration because they know that the proper way to tell things is go to The Superintendent with problems and if these Board Members don't know that they need to get off the Board. I think if I was at that meeting and she said that I would consult a lawyer for threatening ruin my career.

As far as the insurance problem the teachers had to pay back the difference of the insurance but the two administrators didn't. One retired and the other was let go but did not pay back the money.
Also with the credit cards that The Beacon did the story on and showed how some administrators didn't have copy of receipts for purchases wasn't made to pay for them which is required by The Administration Code of IL.

If someone was so concerned about the way they were being treated and made this recording, why didn't they come forward with it 4 years ago? I will tell you why. They kept it as what they thought was their "ace in the hole" when the time came and they saw the writing on the wall. Lots of 204 admins having been putting in applications at other school districts and they are not being accepted. Word has gotten around about them. Now, the person who made the recording seeing her time is limited and with no other offers out there decides it is time to play her card to a corrupt board member in an attempt to get rid of the people who have decided she needs to go. Trying to make Annette quit the board, leaving chaos and then possibly she would have a chance to keep her position. She knew she made major financial mistakes that cost the district a lot of money and that sooner or later her time would come. Shows just how stupid so-called "smart people " making salaries in the hundreds of thousands can be. You hear Annette stating how sick she is of them covering up for each other in the recording.

To Ace in the hole.......what Annette is sick about is that this all came out during her watch. She claims to be the great and wonderful finance person. Yet it was publicly exposed. Her good buddy Dr. R had let this go for so long, they thought it was going to be swept under the rug and then it hit the fan and once again while she was president, more dirt was uncovered. I believe initially, the insurance problem was an error. But rather than fix it and admit it,they let it ride and hide until it snowballed. Annette was PO'd because it was allowed to be made public. Are you saying he fixed the tape to say those things? It was said it was in private session so does that mean it was done at a Board Meeting in private session? I think that would be a violation of the Open Meetings Act. I don't think a board can go into private session and the Board President brow beat Administration that is what should be looked into.

It's going to pretty hard to claim that posting a recording of Annette going off yet again is a false statement and all defamation/slander cases rely on proving that false statements were made. The truth may be embarrassing to Annette but that doesn't make it libelous. As for its legality, the US Supreme Court ruled about a year ago that a public official performing the duties of their official office has no reasonable expectation of privacy. If they are performing their official function, you CAN record them. That is why you have been seeing so many videos of late involving police brutality. Public officials can no longer use personal privacy laws to cover up their illegal public actions.
John Laesch did not even show up to the meeting! He was posting on Facebook about 8pm. What is with him? Create chaos and run and hide. We need to start a petition for his removal. Recently I sent a report to the Board identifying several schools which have areas of great concern due to mold or water damage. Staff within the District provided me with this information. The reason they contacted me is because they DO NOT TRUST ALEX DIMARE to address these issues. Question how long has the water damaged existed? YEARS !!!!!!!!!
Waldo school 4th floor was identified as a severe problem thus Board Member Richard Leonard stepped up to the plate and immediately inspected Waldo several times.
As a result, Waldo will be getting a new roof to correct a very serious Health & Safety Hazard to students and staff.

@ To date I have been notified of specific Schools, room numbers and areas which have been neglected due to water damage which pose a serious health hazard.
The recent “Air Quality Test Results” showed there was no active mold.
The test was taken in March when mole is in a passive state.
HOWEVER mold becomes very active and a health hazard during WARM & HUMID months.
Thus the test results would be much different if taken during this time.

John Laesch creates chaos wherever he goes. His wife was a close friend of mine and hearing stories of John remind of her today. I don't know Ms Johnson but I will pray for her as well. John's military background changed him and we need to pray for him as well. He becomes obsessed with an individual and attempts to break them down and destroy them. Why he ever ran for the school board was a surprise to many of us.
Went to the page for the petition and read that on the night the where electing Board positions an employee and their lawyer approached Laesch and told him that the employees was contacted by Annette Johnson and she stated that if that employee did not get back to Johnson she would have the employee fired. Laesch let the other board members know about this and they must of not thought anything about it because her she is again President. Their are laws about threatening employees about if they didn't do something someone would have them fired. When you think that board members are really not suppose to contact employees it makes it worse. The board members that didn't say anything about her bully an employee are just as bad.
I hope this employee follows through and as a Community we should stand beside them. There is no place for this in any work place and especially when that person is not a employee. If this person needs help with payment for the lawyer I hope we can all chip in something because this kind of things should not be happening and you can bet this person is not the only one. This can be costly to to District.
Annette Johnson is one of EA's number one advocates. It's very sad to read the comments made from others that claim to really care about EA, yet these individuals only advocate for themselves, family members or friends. How many times will these individuals come after Ms. Johnson to try to discredit all that she has done for so many EA staff members. Again, if not for Annette, we as an EA staff would have far far less in our contract. In addition, staff members that have been under attack from administration for speaking out at board meetings would today NOT have a job if it were NOT Ms. Johnson seeing "trumped up" charges against these staff members. The facts are simple, there have been too many individuals that have not done their jobs in EA and have to move on. These individuals have done damage for years and when the 204 group joined EA the current corrupt staff actually became worse because they were a perfect fit with the corrupt 204 individuals.
Why is John Laresh so fixated on Annette Johnson? This is creepy! For a board member that has had poor attendance and who has not stayed current with our EA concerns he certainly wants to make strong statements against Ms. Johnson and decisions that have not been passed by Ms. Johnson singularly.
As a resident and tax payer of East Aurora I would like John to speak to this. John you are seeking to discredit an individual that has done more for our EA community than you will ever do. The fact that you would make calls and attempt to blackmail Ms. Johnson if she did not do as you wanted is the lowest of the low. How do you live with yourself or face people in our community?
Finally, to those of you such as John, get this through your head, Annette Johnson is NOT going anywhere! Annette you continue to do the great work that you are doing, there are many of the EA staff that deeply appreciate and respect all of your efforts. Ralph the amount of respiratory illnesses in East High has quadrupled. I have students with deep phlegmy coughs all year and who blow their noses all year. My own sense of smell has been diminished and I cannot really taste my food anymore. Why have you not come out before this? I have gone on this blog several times and made these comments? If you have appointed yourself a whistleblower and agent for change, please help us, we are suffering. Teachers who were once vibrant drag themselves around, barely functioning. I think a class action suit against this district for its' inactivity is in order.
Annette Johnson definitely lost her temper in the audio recording that was mysteriously debuted 4 years after the fact. I understand Mary Lou Peryea was at the Service Center visiting Mike Pop and others on Monday April 18 2016, thus why would someone who lives out of state be allowed access to an area containing highly confidential documents.
Looks to me like there is a double standard and a blatant attempt to prevent me from visiting.

Community members and staff at D131 that has been subject to Annette Johnson verbal abuse please do something about it. If you have proof from emails or voice message take it to The State's Attorney. There is the ethic's law that protects your rights. Board members even is they are the President have no right to bully you and it will continue until something is done. Spencer Byrd has made an interest in returning to help fix things and we would do a terrible disservice to our students to not bring this man back. He was loved by the students and staff of EAHS and his vision for the district was truly amazing. He fought the corruption, the hate, the incompetence and ultimately was driven away for standing up for the students, teachers and staff he worked with. Its time to clean house and have some true leadership and vision for D131. After reading comments of the petition I'm wondering why no one has gone to The State's Attorney with the complaints. The is something call The Ethic Acts that all employer's are to have employees read and sign every year does EA not do this?
Something else Annette Johnson has no business confronting employees of the district. The Board's only employee is the Superintendent. By her doing this she is breaking the law. Did these board members not read about the responsibilities of the board. There is nothing in there about board members approaching an employee to harass them. It sounds like Annette and the BOE directed Roberts and his nitwits to do the work of the district. They did not and she called them out on it! There is no story here. Johnson made one mistake protecting Roberts. Roberts was not as incompetent as Popp but he allowed waste and corruption.

Ripped a new one. You didn't feel at anytime after Sheila there was anyone who may have listened, or even anonymously you couldn't have filed with OSHA? As you can see from the comments in the blog. Those who stand up for you are soon harassed and their concerns minimized. They complain and without backing and support from a larger group they are soon disregarded and mocked. People like the minority voters on Board and taxpayers that come forward on behalf of staff, community, the students and are a voice for the silent majority, left standing like the cheese.....alone.
Get OSHA to find the mold and establish there is an issue, then find a lawyer who is willing to file the class action on contingency. this can all be done anonymously or creatively so you are not targeted and "ripped" again.
Annette Johnson says on the tape the district lost millions but she has not shown how it was done. Where is the proof. Yes, someone should be talked to if a Administrator or leader has found they make a mistake and has proof to show that they did. When people say change is needed, I think it is pretty obvious where the root of the problem exists and where change needs to happen.

Popp has ruined the district not Johnson. I worked with her and Hachett on our teachers contract. She was professional and polite as was Hachett. Both took notes and cared about the teachers. Hachett because of work conflicts stopped coming and Johnson continued. Again she treated us with respect and cared about our problems. She worked hard to solve money issues and explained the districts position with honest feedback. Up until Johnson and Hachett started coming Popp, Glotzbach and Trucenbrod were rude, nasty and dishonest. The word failure or poor teachers was thrown around meeting after meeting. Thruckenbrod forced Intherm to tears one day. They made many unprofessional remarks.

Where is John Laesch he has no creditability. This is a ploy of Popps and Laesch to take the focus off themselves and put it on Johnson.

This is nothing new when handling large amounts of money. Annette Johnson has done a great deal for many in the EA community adults and more importantly the kids. What's sad is that we do not have petitions to ask the corrupt EA staff to step down. Oh yard right they were fired! Good riddance.

Anyone who reads the blog regularly should recognize her. Whomever is in the Johnson corner gets praised. Those opposing are called names and blamed for anything and everything wrong in the district and become the new main characters on the blog via her comments.
That is her Modus operandi. It is all about her and what she has done all on her own. She shares very little credit and always willing to push the blame. Or as she refers to putting the "focus" on her. She is the one who tries to take the focus off herself when her antics come out for public ridicule.
It is my opinion if Popp and Laesch have accomplished nothing and ruined the district, then that blood is on the hands of the entire board. Especially, the president who should be guiding and overseeing the work of the board and its only -ONE - employee. Presently, Hatchett is Johnsons star. She gave AJ the vote she needed for a majority so AJ will share the glory and claim it as a joint effort between the two of them, until Hatchetts eyes get opened, then she will be the next target. That may not happen too soon, as Johnson has run out of people to manipulate, the rest have seen her true colors, so she will have to restrain herself from alienating anyone else for a while.

Tomcat 8 or Rayanne has ruined the district more than anyone in the last ten years with her blog. The blog turns good people into enemies and all of the BOE members that stay on the BOE are ok in my book. Who would want their job? NOT ME. AS for Rayanne she hates Annette because Annette stood up against her and the blog.

I was just thinking the same thing. Why isn't All of EA up in arms over stealing and lying to cover up mismanagement of funds? Since when is it bullying to tell individuals that are being paid a highly compensated income to cut the BS and do your job or you can get get our of here? In addition, why is it ok to use the word bullying so irresponsibly. There are true incidences of bullying where children have taken their lives because of bullying. You should be ashamed to use this word where it does NOT apply. The Adults they were paid to do their job were stealing and covering up for each other. Although most school boards traditionally marked the seating of new members with some form of ceremony, there was no official oath of office required for school board members until Public Act 94-0881 was enacted into law in 2006. I find it amusing every time someone accuses me of being the author of a comment and I know it is not me. In this most recent comment, I would like to disagree, Annette has never stood up to me or against the blog. When she was trying to be my new best friend, years ago, she would brag to me how she used the blog to spew lies about people. I asked her not to continue to do that as I was trying to make the blog be a place for people to share honest information and opinions. I never sensored or screened comments and Annette took full advantage. She found it quite funny, in fact, when she boasted to me about writing comments about a fellow board member, Dee Weaver and her daughter. I see this is still being done, by someone, to other Board members and their children.
I handed the blog off to someone else over 5 years ago. They improved it by screening comments before allowing them to be posted. It is my opinion, I nor this blog could or has ruined the district, nor could a blog possibly turn "good people into enemies." I have never stated I hated Annette. I have said things, such as, she doesn't have a connection to our children, our community, nor the schools. I have said I feel sorry for her. I do not hate her, I hate the reputation she has created for our district. We have become a good example of what not to do, when it comes to how our school board operates. I have chatted with people in surrounding communities. When the subject of our school board comes up, others know Annette by name and role their eyes or shake their heads.
I, the blog, nor Annette can ruin our district. We have good people, caring people in this district and we have dedicated, committed teachers and staff. I feel, as long as we have Annette on the board, employees in our district have to work extra hard. Not only do they have the daily task of a struggle to work in a district with additional challenges, but it is an uphill effort to work in a place that has such a colorful reputation for the way that business has been done. This has probably been the case for at least the "last 10 years" that was mentioned in a previous post.
As has been said before....you will see fingers being pointed at all sorts of people, in order to take the focus off Annette. I rarely go to board meetings and rarely post on the blog, yet my name has been dug up and thrown out there on a few occasions. Why? Is she running out of people to throw under the bus? If Annette or one of her friends or supporters decided to keep bringing my name out, that's fine. If you wanted my comment, now you have it. I am more than willing to chat with you on any of the topics you continue to want to give me credit. I am sure you can find a way to contact me if you wished.

Or has made comments about children. If you are at this time referring to the son of Kristen Strand he openly put himself out there for all to judge, with his tweets etc. not Annette. As a former board member I will not disclose my name because I don't want my family attacked. I will however set the record straight about Rayanne.
Rayanne threw a tantrum and quit the BOE over the renewal of Dr Roberts contract. That was certainly in right but she blamed Annette for it and spread many lies about her. It is true many BOE members including Annette have asked Rayanne to stop the blog. Annette actually explored legally stopping the blog because she felt it hurt the district. She did take it one step further than any of us and again it made her the goat for Rayanne. Rayanne makes it her business to call everyone and tell them stories about Annette. Annette has never told me she uses the blog to get even with anyone. She has always stated it stops us from getting high level people because they don't want their reputation ruined. The main page still makes reference to Rayanne as the leader of the blog. Rayanne tells everyone she does not run the blog because she is afraid of a lawsuit. She is responsible for the slander since she has no way of proving the claims. No, everyone Rayanne is a bitter women for her experiences with some 131 staff. I will agree Rayanne was never treated well by some district administrators and many of the issues Rayanne discussed have been true. Rayanne did bring up insurance, credit cards and waste. Rayanne was unfairly targeted with union action something I have always felt was a way to silence her. The difference with Annette and Rayanne was she never backed down and the district is better for it.
The tape shows and proves the administration always lied and coverup to the BOE. Annette was feed up and who would be after all the lies from district administration. Her tactics are tough and business like. Verbal altercations are a part of every day life and politics. I also feel sorry for Annette she is the scap goat.
Has anybody else ever noticed that there are a lot of posts on here supporting Annette, however none of them are posted when she is busy in board meetings. Annette must spend a lot of time on here posting and creating the illusion of support.
I’ve heard the latest Annette tirade that was released, just as I heard the tirade she spewed at Ray Hull and I have spoken to enough board members and administrators to know that these are not isolated incidents. I have also read the police report where Jerome Roberts reported that Annette Johnson threatened to take a gun and shoot him and the entire board in executive session.
Most people are posting here deciding if it was justified for Annette to yell or not. We are missing the real issues. First, a board member has no authority to act on their own. She shouldn’t have been speaking to these individuals in the first place (Rayanne was reported to the States Attorney for speaking to employees and that was to try and help them), let alone screaming at and threatening them. Next, if you listen carefully, Annette states that she is aware of a whole list of corruption by these administrators and if they don’t resign (which they didn’t do) she will make it public. Four years later these administrators that she was yelling at are still employed by the district. Annette claimed that they were guilty of all sorts of corruption and cost the district $10+ million dollars yet nothing was done to these administrators. They were and are still collecting obscene amounts of salary paid by the tax payers.
Annette needs to answer to the community about how she could allow this sort of corruption on her watch. It is clear from the recording (the smoking gun) that she knew these things were going on and did nothing to hold the individuals accountable (other than scream and threaten them). She is in panic mode now attempting to throw blame around everywhere but these facts need to be addressed. How can anybody in good conscience support Annette knowing that she had this information and did nothing. It doesn’t matter if the administrators in question were incompetent or corrupt, they should have been removed, as Annette should be now.
I was at a visitation this week for a recently retired employee (but he still coaches in the district) who lost his wife. This man has been a part of District 131 for the past 63 years. He was a student in District 131 and later became a teacher and coach for the district. He was a pillar of the community and knew people throughout the district and surrounding areas. At the visitation many current and former employees and community members came to pay their respects. John Struck was one of the former administrators who came. This is because of how the district used to be. Central office administrators came from the within the district and community. They had a real stake in our children and staff. Even now after many years in retirement, John Struck came to the visitation because he was a part of the EA community. Can anybody see our current central office administration doing this?

There is no respect or compassion from our current administrators (or board). They don’t know the people they work for and therefore have no connection with them. They can’t even feign empathy. It is no wonder our district is in the state that it’s in.

Where is "Consistency" in making decisions for visitors?

Speaking of wasteful spending, it appears that Nate Parry who was previously appointed Interim assistant principal of athletics by King Crespo with no interview process or transparency, is staying on in his role even though Dennis Renner returned back to work yesterday. We are still getting early dismissal emails for athletics from Nate. So now the district is paying two people a prorated six figure salary to do one person's job???? How can the school board be okay with this? Simply wasting money and neglecting Nate's students since they don't have their "expert" in front of them on a daily basis. King Crespo reigns supreme, who cares about money and protocol, the King has unlimited money.
Speaking of the King.....he used the school robo call machine last Thursday to call parents in a panic with false information freaking out about an alleged "spur of the moment" board meeting Thursday night and Saturday. He must've thought he was on the chopping block Thursday because he lied to parents and tried to get them to attend the board meeting on his behalf. The district then had to sit him down with the lawyer to come up with a statement to retract his previous robo call via another robo call. It is absolutely stunning Crespo has a job still. He is not qualified, incompetent, a bully, and suffers from a major Napoleon complex. How much longer must we deal with this? How much longer must he yell over the radios at PPAs for no good reason? The fact that Popp and Truckenbrod hired an inexperienced, not teaching certified or educated person(he has a bachelor's degree in international business NOT EDUCATION!!) to be principal justifies their firing. Popp defends Crespo and claims he has a teaching certificate but this is easily disproven by checking ISBE's public search engine.
East Aurora Council membership will be selecting new leadership in the coming weeks and the singular choice for Union President will certainly come back to haunt us all. Despite a thick resume and seemingly bountiful accolades - the rubber fails to meet the road here for this potential candidate. As a building union representative for Cowherd, information on contract negotiations was rarely made widely available to rank and file over the length of negotiations. As a building union representative - the priority is others before self. Please defend voting intimidation practices conducted at your building during the tenuous "Strike Authorization" period. This was inexcusable. Balloting was supposed to be impervious to this type of conduct under your supervision. Likewise are the observed behaviors at East Aurora Council meetings calling for "No Side Bars!" while engaged hypocritically in the same behavior. Will this also define your tenure as president of our council? In a candidate's forum could you also defend this widely circulated allegation of having passed a yearlong "Failing" eighth grader to East High School for bringing in a specimen of "Road Kill" - as the singular criteria to pass a year of middle school science. Probably not! I wonder how this student and instructors faired in the years that followed. How well will union rank and file be represented under your leadership? Evidence suggests a cozy relationship with Cowherd's building administration and the use of leverage to gain position with compensation. All in all these are unfavorable understandings on my behalf. If your business experience, degreed resume, educational leadership, and instructional pedigree are of any indication of what's to come - then I'd steadfastly question why you're in this profession at all. Without another candidate to select from I will not be making a ballot decision for Union President. Likewise, I'd like to see this lack of choice and absence of selection a sign of discontent to come.

The man hasn't even become president yet and you are bashing him? I've worked at Cowherd for many years and have NO idea what you are referring to. The man has incredible rapport with his colleagues. All information that was shared by Sara and the union was communicated to the staff. There was no intimidation when it came to voting. All ballot votes were secret and counted with several people in the room. Further, I've never known him to pass any student that didn't deserve it, let alone as you describe. Road Kill? Really??? I've never heard such crap. If you are really a union member, have the cajones to face the man and discuss your issues. Don't hide anonymously on a blog and spout such garbage. Of course, what is much more likely is that this is an administrator or board member trying to discredit the man before he is even sworn in.

It appears Ms. Strands son is back on the internet doing her dirty work. He posted on the eahs seniors Twitter page about signing mr chaos John Laesch petition and it also appears he has started the Facebook page. Crespo has warped the minds of his student advisory committee as has Popp with his committtee. Crespo is a terrible leader and his true colors are coming out using kids for his own personal gain. If he was actually doing his job he wouldn't need all this nor would he need to manipulate students and parents. He would be able to let his work do the talking.
Ms Strand is sneaky and corrupt. To use her son to Keep Crespo shows she has and end game. She is also behind the John Laesch petitions because of her desire to get control of EA. My mama also told me that when a person yells they tell the truth when a person sneaks around like Ms Strand and uses Laesch to do her bidding they can not be trusted.

Having worked with said candidate for many years now it is obvious you have not worked closely with him at all. He is a teacher with integrity and dedication. He was forthcoming with information about the negotiations age did not push his personal opinions onto the staff at Cowherd. He has shown good leadership skills as a mentor and union rep and will be a good strong union leader who will look out for the needs of the staff, the whole staff. Vote or not he's the best candidate available.

I also want those that have been threatened by Annette to pursue it legally since she has no authority to have a private session with employees and yell at them the way she did on the clip.

Sadly, EA will be stuck with incompetent and corrupt Crespo. He has received very good evaluations from Pillsbury dummy doeboy Popp and the wicked witch of the East Joanie. Looking at some of the job sites that allow former and current employees to give their opinion of the place that they work(ed) it looks like Ralph's unusefull idiots are the reason for the younger teachers leaving as they state that most teachers and staff do not do their jobs and are unwilling to help anyone. I spoke with board president Annette Johnson about her recording. She said it isn't a big deal. She said people are glad she speaks that way. She said she is holding people accountable.

And Laesch wants to disenfranchise all those voters. I worked my ass off for my B.A. and M.A. from 2 Ivy League schools that I EARNED scholarships to. Graduated at the top of my class. Both times. If you think we pump out anything it is how to act civilized, be a good citizen, do your part to get ahead, that there are no shortcuts in life. You have to acknowledge the socio-economic reality of East Aurora: single parent households( I am not bashing single moms, quite the contrary, they do a heroic job)poor economy with no jobs and few opportunities unless they get out of this city. The problem is not John Laesch. The problem is two months of PAARC testing and the four months teachers prepare for meaningless Danielson evaluations from evaluators who don't know what they are doing. If teachers could use this wasted time to work on creating great lessons for their kids, then you would see some changes. Your comment about handing out degrees lets me know that you were not able to partake in this process. Well remember, it's never too late.
Change Org is not a valid petition and everyone needs to be very careful reading others names since we have no idea of who signed this. A real petition requires a your name, address, and a signature. Laesch should know this since he has been involved in many political campaigns. He is defaming Johnson since he did not tell everyone what the tape was about. We wonder who is paying him since it took Popp off the front page.

John doesn't care about his position with the board, just look at his attendance. He has probably missed more meetings than he has actually attended and was actually quoted in the Beacon that he had to "prioritize what was important" and the board and its meetings are not as important as feeling the Bern. Maybe John was fired in the massive layoffs by Bernie this past weekend and will actually show up to the board meeting.....unlikely though as he is simply a fire starter, an internet troll, paid by someone (Popp) to create chaos. John Laesch and Ken Darby have lost the respect of all the union workers he claims to represent. Strand again showed her true colors they defended Glotzbach/ Thruckenbrod that have bullied many. I teach my students a simple rule in life. If I am having difficulties with one person, I take a step back, analyze the situation and determine if they have the issue or do I. When I am having difficulties with many people, I know the issues are with me. OR, to put it another way, the only consistent factor in all of Annette Johnson's disfunctional relationships is Annette Johnson.
How many police reports, audio tapes personal experiences and lawsuits will it take before this community understands and deals with her. John Laesch and Ken Darby may not be perfect but that doesn't mean they are wrong. And if Annette Johnson's only defense is to say, ignore the bad things you see because I mean well or have done some good things or I am passionate or its somebody else's fault. It's definitely time for a change. They've cleaned house at the administrative center, it's time to do the same in the board room. They teach the history and theory of the educational history of America. I received my teaching degree from Roosevelt Uni. And Aurora U. For middle school. He responded that time, yet failed to respond to the April 18th comments concerning very serious issues. Then again he stubbornly refuses to address the issues I have repeatedly proven via FOIA documents to support my claim of “Wasteful Spending” during his era.
Kirsten: I have forwarded to you Countless times concerning East High Principal Anthony Crespo regarding his “Demoralization of Staff & Teachers” and very Wasteful Spending under his authority. Regarding my latest report, You responded with one word “RECEIVED”.
This past year you have chosen to ignore repeated purchasing violations and his reign of terror directed to the heart and soul of the High School “Staff & Teachers”.
Need I bring forward certain emails which shows your intent not to respond?
Annette: Last Bd Meeting I publicly appealed my request to visit Waldo School with Board Member Mr Richard Leonard. To this day I have no response.
Evidently I am being denied access from Mike Popp yet he allows “Ohio Resident” Mary Lou Peryea to visit the Central Office unescorted and to visit other Administrators Offices whom had confidential documents on their desk.
Also Crespo has his wife and children visit the High School during school hours.
I am an American Citizen, Veteran, and Taxpayer thus have every right to tour a Public Building. I remind this Board that I have exposed many a Purchasing and Personnel Hiring Violations the past several years. As a result Hundreds of thousands were saved.

If we were to open our schools to one person, a person who has no affiliation with East Aurora School District 131 and has no business related to education at the school, then we would have to open up the school to anyone who made a request to go through the school. This would disrupt the daily operations of the school.
Additionally, even when students are not present, there are liability issues with this request. For obvious safety reasons, we do not make all areas of our buildings open to everyone. We need to keep both the visitors and the school safe at all times. The safety of our students, and consequently the buildings where they attend school, is paramount.
I will notify the building principal that this visit has not been approved.

D131 staff have seen Ken Darby and John Laesch at Papa Bears meeting with Ray Hull. Current district administration was discussed. Hull is not a board member and has lead to the disruption of 131. Laesch thinks he popular but he is not and he drank the koolaid. Everyone knows Darby did get political favors from Popp with regards to his son and girlfriend. The union will never stop a pay upgrade or positive reclassification but we have seen Glotzbach and Popp handle this for Mr Darby.
At the ASC yesterday Richard Schroader could be heard screaming at a staff member by the name of CC. Waddell did nothing. This has gone since the Popp era and make Johnson tape very mild. Ms Johnson has fought for us and is being made the scapegoat. The staff knows that she has been the only leader strong enough to listen and many view her as courageous.
Johnson has recognized the corrupt administration and like her or not addressed it.
Does anyone see a pattern Popp and Hanley and of few of their abusers like Garza, Cresbo and Rowley are making it appear like the board is creating all the problems. Laesch and Darby are using their positions on the board talk about the past and blame Johnson.
EA employees of Bardwell, East High and Fred Rodgers what has been happening at our buildings? Why are they the buildings that had strong union leaders fighting for you. Ms Johnson and Hackett helped us now it is time we help them.

So John Laesch has hitched his feeling the bern wagon to feeling the hull. Dr. Popp was fired, or "reassigned' for banging his secretary at Neuqua, whom he just recently married this past fall. Real winner.
Truckenbrod is a music teacher, who has a made up title from Popp, and who was going to be fired from his principal job in 204 because his school and students failed to meet growth standards. He is a bully, a liar and a manipulator.
Glotzbach is yet another music teacher, with a made up title, who, along with Truckenbrod, is in charge of overseeing all buildings and principals and instruction. What makes music teachers qualified to hire principals? What makes music teachers qualified to know about math and English and other core courses?
Hanley took it upon himself to speak for teachers, staff and students that we love all the fired administrators, what gives him that right?
The district is better off without these incompetent, lying, bullying and threatening administrators and PR people. Kudos to Annette, Kim, Alex and Dick. The administration should get fired it took 7 seminars to discover this and Popp states there are no checks and balances in place. Really is that not what happened with the insurance. So much for teacher appreciation week. Below is a direct quote from the letter that Matt Hanley sent out to the teachers and staff of the district (Including the spelling errors). The district administration (approved by the board) set up a computer system that has many issues. The issues have been going on for 4 years. They provided very little professional development and support on the system. They change the system several times a year and then want to hold the teachers responsible for their incompetence.
"Will there be discipline for the staff involved?
Accurately calculating grades is a primary responsibility for classroom staff." "If the District identifies any situations that merit disciplinary action, those personnel will be property notified and the District will follow the appropriate discipline process."
We also need to be very vigilant when looking at our paychecks this week. On May 13th we are supposed to see our raises and retro pay that were agreed to in the new contract. Reliable sources have indicated that not everybody will see the raises promised. Christie Tyler has been ordered by her superiors to NOT give raises documented in the new contract to 1st year teachers. The secretaries and support staff have already seen that the new contract means nothing. The district has ignored the new contract and made changes that were never agreed to and voted on. Make sure you report any and all issues to your union rep.
It's that time again. Hundreds of kids have been failing their classes all year long, now the administrators come out of the woodwork and order (without putting it in those words because it would be illegal) teachers to pass them on to the next grade. We can't have the numbers look bad. Got to keep the promotion and graduation rates looking good. There are kids who have failed every class this year and we are being told we have to pass them to the next grade. Teachers are being told to give passing grades to students that haven't shown up to class all semester. This district is an insane asylum and the patients are running the place.
Lies, Lies and more cover-ups. The administration has always known this grade issue was a problem. Teachers have complained at the start of every new school year about the program. The middle schools calculate grades much in the same manner. Most building don't even have a Campus go to. The teachers have been told just pass kids. That was the direction of Mark Thruckenbrod and other administration dating back to Marin Gonzalez.
The board should fire everyone and hopefully they will have better luck with proven leaders.
Just a note Angie Rowley has had many screaming matches with teachers and slammed her door some have been told we are not welcome in her office.
Twila Garza has sat in teachers rooms all day reading a book as a form of harassment for teachers who dare to speak up. She has left Scott Strand alone huh funny that she is our voice. Don't think so everyone wants you to resign today.

So much for respect. Glozbach wagged her finger today about professional development. She said the problems in students grades do not happen in other districts because teachers work on their time to set up grades books and get training. She complained that there is not enough time in the school day to properly train teachers and they need to be responsible for themselves.
Her tone is that we are lazy. Its a funny thing Glotzbach forgot next year she will be a teacher because we are sure she is not capable of finding a job.

Glotzbach is correct. Teachers do need to be responsible for setting up their gradebook properly. We are sent a document every semester detailing exactly how to set our gradebooks up. There is no excuse for a professional not being able to follow simple, step-by-step, written directions.

Ray and crew paid Roberts a $78,000 gift and let other settlements happen like Earnest Clark. Lets not forget the $80,000 paid to a person with no finger prints. We don't know what went on behind the iron curtain but we know the timing of the Roberts false report was interesting. Police reports in Shorewood indicate that the same weird questionable behavior went on between Roberts and his Ex wife. Some SSC employees gave copies to the Beacon and it was never reported on. We also provided names of employees from Calumet Park were Roberts was fired and news articles from the South Town again it was never reported on.
Speaking of reports why did Crosby not report on sexually and racially sensitive statements made by Hull to the teaching body. It seems the paper had double standards and some feel Hanley was paid overtime to keep Hulls comments out of the news.
Credit Cards and insurance rocked admin's boat and that is a credit to Johnson nobody can deny that. Everyone at the SSC knew we had ghost employees getting insurance. I was the unspoken word.
Ms Johnson does have supporters many of us. She is successful because we had her successful but no other board president would listen. Melcher, Farnham and Mccue were all well aware of and its problems. Johnson solved these problems but now we understand what a whistleblower is and that is why so many do not come forward. We do not want to be assaulted like Johnson.
We also know the back room deal to hire Popp and the boards unwillingness to interview more candidates. Popp did not fully understand the corruption of East Aurora and everyone knows he was willing to look the other way. Roberts was a crook and Popp was a fool

Ray Hull is one of the biggest racist there is. Not only did he humiliate himself and offend all of us at the red and black day with his highly sexual story telling/metaphors, he also was one of the biggest BLACK door corrupt board member/ president. You are correct in your comment about Annette not having the authority and yes, she should not be communicating to any of the staff about job performance. They hired a supt. to do that. When it comes to student discipline, though, there is an administrator who brings the "case" before the board and makes a recommendation on what consequences the student will face. Such as suspension, expulsion. It is the Boards decision, sort of like a court, to discuss, ask questions and decide what the final punishment will be.
That is my best translation of the duties. Maybe someone else can clarify better.
Popp writes us a email because he wants us to know he was out Thursday. He was out networking looking for a job. Ms Tyler also attended the same conferance yet managed to come back an honor teachers at Together We Shine. What was Thruckenbrod, Waddle, Cresbo and Hanleys excuse. Come on Dr Popp you think we are incompetent boobs that could not qualify to teach at 204. Truth is you lost your job as principal and was considered dead weight at 204. Is it not true that the new superintentent would not renew you contract. Waddell applied for many jobs at 204 and was never hired in Central Office and Thruckenbrod had one of the lower preforming schools and after Thruckenbrod left it improved.

You can blame it on administration in 2012 but it represents a small fraction of the grades the problem ballooned under your administration when training was not given.

If Dr. Popp is leaving the last of June what can he do about the grades scandal? The district needs to have someone who can follow through with whatever needs to be done.
Just the facts
The whole "grades scandal" could have been averted with the simple implementation of a default that would set up the weighted categories at each school. But this would have taken some work. The "facts" are that they have changed an entire computer system once or twice a year sometimes just days before grades were due, and given zero training. Just an email, which is out of date. For example- Kristin Imberger will send out quarterly grade posting instructions at progress reporting time, from 2014. I actually feel this is a cover-up for the failure rate and the reason admins are changing grades and not teachers is to fix these "failures" That's okay dillweeds, your scapegoating of teachers is transparent and will be uncovered as a mess that YOU created and perpetuated through poor planning and shoddy administration.
I have to ask why the bilingual director and her family keep traveling to Spain every year to "recruit" bilingual teachers? Many of them not even teachers, just professionals from other disciplines searching for a job and the opportunity to travel abroad. Bilingual teachers were told that this practice was going to be discontinued because the recruits were not holding up. Many of them did not know what to do with our students. Many of them would just stay for a year and be gone. Do we have the money for these trips to continue? Why are we not more focused on providing bilingual recent university graduates here with the opportunity to teach in their own community? When is the director going to understand that even when Spaniards and Mexicans speak Spanish the cultural connection is not there? We know that students need to feel valued by their teachers to thrive. In general I have seen that teachers from Spain feel disregard and look down on their students. It is like th conquest all over again.

Glotzbach again. The past computer person (Ali) was holding Campus accountable. He ended up in a shouting match with Campus bigwigs and Glotzbach told him he was never to touch campus again. A letter is in his file from Joan. To date not all the records are in the system and it was something the district paid for. Students records only go back to 2011. It does not give teachers the entire picture on a student. Ali was fighting for teachers and had enough and left.
Then comes Childress and Imberger both are not network people and with a district as large as 131 every district has one. Popp did not think computers were important. Thus the grade scandle.
Shields quit and our other top computer guy will some retire. Hopefully with new leadership the retirees will fix the technology department.

I would like to share with "connection is important."
Approx. 9 years ago, I asked the same questions about "why we recruit teachers from Spain?" I had been told by Marin Gonzalez, the reason they went to Spain, was the teachers came with certifications and other criteria required to teach. I don't recall all the terminology, as it has been many years ago, but basically, these teachers were better prepared to teach in our classrooms and they could not find qualified applicants for the positions in the continental U.S.
Shortly after my conversations with Marin, I spoke with one of EA 2008 distinguished alumni who is a dean at NEIU in Chicago. She assured me, whatever these candidates in Spain were bringing with them, NEIU could make ready their students with the same requirements and certification. She gave me her card, I passed it and the info on to Marin, the trips continued.
I was told by teachers, the recruits did not stay. They were not a good fit with our students. They were from Spain and our Hispanic students were from many other countries, but not Spain. I was told a large number of them just got home sick and went back. So I questioned the "bargain" they claimed to get shopping in Spain for teachers rather than anywhere else in the USA. I received the same answer that it did not cost that much to go there and there were no candidates here in the U.S.
It almost sounds like certain administrators wanted an excuse to get a free trip to Spain.
And as someone who has family members who were born in Mexico, I can tell you that Spanish is spoken VERY differently in Spain than in Mexico. Not only is the pronunciation of many consonant sounds different, but expressions and idioms used in Mexico would be totally misunderstood by people from Spain (and vice versa). Spain and Mexico are on two different continents and are two different cultures! It would be like sending someone from Australia to teach in a Texas public school. Add to that the fact that a NEIU dean says our college education majors are equally qualified...it adds up to a hare-brained idea, as well as a free trip for admins.
Last year we had 11 positions not filled in Bilingual yet again many good teachers including the many from this country are released every year. We lost a excellent teacher at our school run by a Popp flunky because she was told she does not get along with her PLC group. That was a lie because the PLC group did not complain. These are the daily lies of the Popp era
We are glad Glotzbach is gone she never worked with Bilingual teachers, many left or new graduates never got interviewed. That's why we go to Spain because of horrible administration. Glotzbach has been one of the main problems.
The reason we have a grade fiasco is Popp. When our union complained about the big salary increase of Hanley Popp was response was the following. I saved money on the technology department by giving the job to Childress. Childress is not a technology person and the money should not be spent on Hanley. He is of little value. It proves Popp does not care about students only himself. He can send us all,the letters he wants but we know his image comes first and $87,000 is still to much to pay for someone that is worthless.
The latest episode in the reign of terror is Crespo if you speak in public like our football coach does against him will post your job and tell him he is personally going to sit in on the interviews to replace him. Crespo is also sitting in on other interviews in the PE department of coaches he does not like. He actually thinks he knows something about coaching. This is the same insane piece of garbage who can't build a team. Crespo told some he had a job but one look into his background shows he is unemployable. Most school districts want someone with a real degree. Not EA Popp will hire any piece of garbage as long as they yes sir.
Meanwhile all the student grades are not fixed and he could care less about fixing them. It's time to go to NBC investigates and expose him. Popp writes grades will only go up not down. It is a way to get more students to graduate so Crespo will not be exposed for the lowest graduating class ever.

If you are going to get to the bottom of the scandal, it is critical you review the letter supposedly in Rehman Ali’s file. This will answer the core root of the problem and open up many a new question regarding this scandal.
I do understand that this matter falls under “Personnel & Confidential” protection thus will the Board
issue out a statement regarding the questions not falling under the above.
I specifically selected Kirsten Strand, Ken Darby, & John Laesch for this email as they have been the voices of “No Change in Administration” and advocating the “Popp Era” is doing a “Great Job”. They did vote to retain his “select group” in an attempt to keep them employed at East Aurora.
The administration is the fault of the grade fiasco. Someone should have put a spot check system in. Administration shows up to work daily and does nothing.
Everyone knows Crespo is after Becker and conducting interviews for his replacement is a waste of time. The community and junior Tomcat program will have a cow. This is the Crespo way and now everyone sees we are not a group of crybabies. He is vindictive and will use children to fight his battles. Staff was checking with friends in Downers and Crespo will not last long with McDonald.
Popp and Crespo are some of those men, so is Laesch. Popp wants to burn down the district before he leaves June 30th. Crespo has done this before when he forced out and fired a beloved cheer coach at proviso east. The cheer coach was reinstated and Crespo was shipped off to proviso west for his part in the fiasco. It appears he wants to fire Becker now and repeat his past. King Crespo the micro-manager will sit in on interviews and force Renner to hire another coach, as he has done with other positions that were open. He will verbally tell Renner, as to not leave a paper trail and when the community is up in arms, Crespo will put all the blame on Renner. Just wait and see. Crespo has previously done this with his precious ACT pull-out program where he directed the AP's including Renner to just give the students full credit for missing PE. When that blew up in his face, Crespo blamed everyone but himself. This little napoleon needs to go already. Who knew asking Nate Parry to come see him in his office constitutes an interview and following protocol for naming him to his current district money wasting position of interim AD and AP even though Renner is back.
Does everyone, including Crespo's brain warped supporters know and understand he has an international business degree from the mighty Ramapo College???? HE DOES NOT HAVE A TEACHING DEGREE. Heard Crespo got a job out east where he has worked before apparently.
It is time for The State Board of Education to come in and get things right. We have
a board that has someone acting like a child and stating some of the members are better than others since they did something to try and fix the mess then you have some in the district pointing fingers at Popp and Administration and teachers. It is everyone ones fault since it has been going on so long and not just when Popp came to the district. Then there is Ralph and his rants.
It is time to stop pointing fingers and calling out people and do something. The buck stops at the board they should be directing the Superintendent. I'm sure he had different ideas since he came from a district where students excel and you don't hear of all the problems we have.
Some of the problem is the parents that don't care if their children get a good education but this district sort of causes the problem. But for the students that do excel and parents care about their education we should be giving them that.

In other district news Crespo attacked and suspended one of our building administion today violating his medical rights. Popp is backing him up. Crespo is the only administrator allowed to suspend someone with out approval from any of his superiors. The board can plan on a big lawsuit and multi staff coming forward for the reign of terror. We are fed up and not going to take it anymore. It is also well documented that his behavior was the same way at Proviso.
Guess Ralph missed the Beacon story from Wednesday about the Fine Arts Festival tomorrow; instead of asking if the handicapped seating is messed up and "if so", he could have supported EAHS by attending the festival (hey, Ralph, it's free!) and looking for himself before this latest posting. It could easily have waited until Saturday evening or Sunday, when he'd be able to report what he saw with his own eyes.

Why are the rules always different for mama Kristen Strand and her children. Her son is on Facebook and has friended district employees. The school district has warned us not to friend students but it is acceptable for him. If you are not part of the "All in" crowd as a staff member friending other student we would get a reprimand or suspended without pay.
Also, is the policy Dr Popp enforcing on teachers helping her son with a higher grade point average? We have been told to move the grades up not down. Is that fair to other students in other districts that are competing for scholarship?
When is Strand moving back to Naperville? Answer after her son's get a free ride.
